Hows it going?
We are doing pretty good here. LO has given me one 5 hour stretch of sleep each night for the past two nights. I really hope that continues. She is a little snuggle bug and really just wants to be held and cuddled most of the day. It's a little annoying sometimes but I'm enjoying it. I know it won't last!
I've been a little over emotional the past week, not really depressed just emotional. I've been trying to get out of the house more and that is helping though.
Shes been making eye contact the past week which has been really fun still no smiles or coos but they are coming!
Funny story to end with, I was visiting my Mom and Grandma yesterday and Grandma was holding Mariah and Mariah started fussing. My Mom said she would hold her and calm her down.
She was still fussing when my Mom was holding her too so they finally gave up and handed her to me. As soon as she was in my arms she calmed right down and was happy as could be just staring at me. That made me very happy lol
Re: Moms with outside baby's: Come check in!
Good Morning Ladies!
I really can't complain, but I think we may have hit the 3-week growth spurt as LO is eating way more than usual. I also had to call the Pedi to see if I need to be concerned about acid reflux - he spits up anywhere from 2x - 8x after feedings. But he doesn't seem bothered by it and hopefully it's not going to be an issue.
My big concern is how to start having DH give him a bottle at night so I can go to bed and get a couple extra hours of sleep (LO's days/nights are flipped and he'll go 4 hours between feedings during the day, and as little as 2 hours at night). But I am concerned about when/how to pump to make up for that session since I'd be asleep when he'd be getting the bottle. Anyone have experience with this? How did it work out for you...?
DS also seems to be crying more - he gets over tired easily and then I can't get him to calm down and go to sleep sometimes for anything and I absolutely lost it. I try to be pretty calm and practical about everything, but for 24 hours straight I was like a faucet leaking tears.
We now have house guests from yesterday until Feb 17. All family, but still another stressor during an already stressful time trying to get to know our son and get a routine down. Wish me luck!!
Hope everyone is enjoying their time with their LO's.
Hi! We're doing pretty well here. Still trying to get in a bit of a routine with eating. He's been doing ok at night, sleeping for 3 hours or so and then waking up every 2. Sometimes he has a little longer stretch, but boy does he want to sleep all day! I'm waking him up every 2 hours during the day to feed him so he doesn't get in too much of a routine of sleeping all day long.
I love just looking at him. I can't stand how cute he is and how much I love him. He's already doing great with the eye contact and holding up his head. When I'm burping him on my chest, he'll hold his head up and just look at me. It totally melts my heart.
The breastfeeding has been a little hard. I was cracking and blistering at first, but with some help from our doula and the la leche league website, I'm finally starting to heal. I think he might already be going through his first growth spurt by the way he's acting. He gets real fussy when I feed him sometimes and will latch and unlatch a lot and get real frustrated. It is a little frustrating, but I know we'll get through it. I just keep telling myself, if I can get through 17 hours of labor with no drugs, I can get through ANYTHING! haha And from what I've read, the first 2 weeks are the hardest, so we're almost through that.
Overall, everything is going great. He's such a little snuggler, and he loves cuddling with me and his daddy. I hope everyone else is doing well!
Hey congratulations. . .glad you finally had your baby!!
We're doing much better than we were a week ago! My milk supply completely dried up thanks to round 2 of mastitis, so I've been done pumping since Tuesday of this week. We'd already put E on formula when I got mastitis again because my supply was really low anyway and she wasn't gaining weight because there wasn't really anything there for her to eat. E is gaining weight, sleeping decently well (we usually get a 4-5 hour stretch at night), and is overall much happier. I'm settling into a routine of being home while DH is at work and most days I'm able to get a load of laundry done or the dishes put away.
We started CDing this week and it's going great! Doing the extra laundry isn't really a big deal and DH is doing a great job getting used to these over disposables.
E is healthy. She had to have some silver nitrate on her belly button at the end of last week and her belly button looks SO much better. All in all, we are good, just tired

We've had a few hiccups along the way (tongue clipped, jaundice/billi blanket, RSV scare/first cold), but things are going well.
Bradley was induced early because he was shrinking (my placenta was shutting down) and was 6lb 1oz when he was born. The tongue and jaundice complicated feeding for this first 2 weeks, but now my little milk monger is 7lbs 9oz!
We just got the green light to start going longer between feedings since his weight gain is so good (up to 4 hours at night). So last night we got 3.5 hours of sleep at a time. It was glorious.
We still have to wake him up to feed though
I'm looking forward to when he can better self-regulate.
Miss Capri is 3 weeks today! Things are going really well - much easier than the first time around with DS. I think she's calmer and hardly ever cries. She does make these screetchy, high-pitched noises when she's hungry - sort of sounds like a crazy dinosaur!
She's a great eater and my oversupply issues have finally tamed a bit. Wakes up every 4 hrs starting at 8pm and 3 during the day.
Our biggest challenge has been adjusting to being a family of FOUR - as in...carrying a carseat, while holding DS's hand so he doesn't run into the street, and then trying to get everyone in the car - AHH! Needless to say, WE ARE LATE FOR EVERYTHING!
This is our last baby, so trying to remember every moment has been exciting and sad all at the same time!!!
Phoenix is such a calm baby, I hope that he stays that way. He is feeding like a champ, and eats every 2-3 hours during the day. He will give us 1 or 2 stretches at night or early morning where he will go 4-5 hours which is nice, but he has a stretch between 2-6 a.m. that he wants to feed back to back. I'll try to get him to sleep, but he'll be wide awake. However, daddy can get him to sleep pretty well. I don't want to rely on that though because DH goes back to work Monday, and I want him to get his sleep.
He's also amazingly strong. He holds his head up for long stretches of time to look around, and he was able to push himself up off of his tummy with his hands to move his head from one side to the other. Also, he army crawls up your body or across the floor if you put him down on his tummy. I think he may crawl at an early age because he already wants to be mobile.

Overall things are going pretty well. I've already talked about my BFing issues (need a shield), but it's working and she seems to be getting what she needs from me. My nipples are just big scabs that open up with each feeding, but I just bought some soothie pads, so I am hoping that helps. I know it's going to happen, but I would love for it to stop since she gets some blood with each feeding :-/
We're still having to wake DD up every 3ish hours to feed. Last night she woke up on her own for two of the feeds, which was nice since we didn't have to go through the process of waking her AND feeding her. We have our 2 week appt next Thursday and I am hoping she's gained enough so we can stop waking her up at night to feed. (FWIW, we "weighed" her at home... as in DH got on the scale, weighed himself, then took her and re-weighed himself... It looks like she might be up to 6lbs, up from 5lbs 8.5oz at her appt on Monday. We'll see, though.)
She's a total cuddle bug and loves being held, but she's also good about just chilling in her PnP and crib. It's a little difficult to get her down to sleep around 10pm (after her last "evening feed"), but skin-to-skin has really helped with that.
I'll be honest though, I am little terrified of Sunday night, since DH won't be helping as much because he is going back to work. I know I'll adjust, but it scares me.
We're doing great over here! DD spent 8 days in the hospital and was released on Sunday, so this has been the first week of all of us at home and healthy (since the week before that, I was recovering from the c-section and my DS was sick, followed by DD being sick).
I LOVE having 2 kids. It feels so much more complete than with just one - although, I never felt like 1 was insufficient even though I knew I wanted more.
Cora is happy as long as she's being held and cuddled, and I don't mind at all. My Moby Wrap is getting quite the workout every day so that I can still play with DS and get things done around the house. She only wakes once at night to eat (although, I stay up until her midnight feeding to avoid a second wakeup), but she sometimes likes to have a party after she eats and stay awake for a couple hours. Hopefully that will stop soon. I'm also loving maternity leave.

Doing well for the most part, but more exhausted than I ever though possible! He is in the 3 week growth spurt and seems to be having some gas issues. Nothing major, just enough to ensure that I don't get more that about 40 mins of sleep at a time :S
Otherwise BF is going great, he's completely adorable and has my whole family wrapped around his teeny tiny finger
Jameson is a wonderful baby
Except he is a nightowl! He wakes up every hour to eat. He HATES to have his diaper changed so of course whenever I am feeding him he poops and I have to change him and he freaks out again. Breastfeeding is going well and I have already lost 22 pounds thanks to it! I love having him here and I am enjoying every minute of being his mommy!
On the other hand, my mom is here and driving me insane. My in-laws are en route to my house. Sigh.
Scar is almost 2 weeks and doing ok. Breastfeeding has been a challenge which I wasn't prepared for seeing as I had no issues with my last 4. I have one side that has 3 huge cracks, we've also had thrush and supply issues. I've been wearing breast shields to protect the one side, and sometimes I skip a few feedings to give me a break and just pump, so we are slowly working through them. We have an appointment on Wednesday to get her weight, hopefully she has gained enough so I can stop worrying about my supply.
She is all around a very happy baby. She eats about every 2 hours during the day, sometimes I'll get a 4-5 hour stretch at night. In the evenings she is a cluster feeder so she attached to me for several hours. It doesn't bother me because I'm trying to up my supply. As long as someone is always holding her, she's happy as a clam. Good thing she's got 4 sibling who fight over who gets her, and my sling is my best friend

I feel great as far as recovery goes. About a week pp I didn't even feel like I had ever been pregnant. I'm down 20lbs as of right now which is pretty awesome since I only gained 12. Unfortunately, I was about 20 heavier then usual at the beginning of this pregnancy, so I still have about 13 more to go.
