1st Trimester

Hi! :) First pregnancy and completely paranoid.

Hi ladies!  My man and I just found out I'm pregnant a couple days ago.  It wasn't unplanned - but we had been told it would be impossible for us to conceive without IVF, (his low sperm count/motility, etc.)  So now, I feel like I have this little miracle in my belly and I'm obsessive about taking care of myself.  My guy refuses to even get excited because we want this so bad and it's so early.

I leave tonight for a week, (my work keeps me on the road constantly), so now of course, I'm freaked out about traveling.

How do you get on with normal life?  I'm already nauseous and crazy emotional, lol.

Oh, and hi!  Nice to meet you all!  :):)

  • Hello, I know exactly how you feel This is mine and my hubbys first pregnancy i am 9 weeks and for the first two weeks i swear i was the most paranoid person on this earth. Rest assure that you will soon relax. I dont think people who have not struggled as you and i did to get pregnant really know our worries and understand our craziness. Try to enjoy this! And hope for the best! i am sending the best thoughts your way and congratulations to you and your hubby :) try to take it easy and embrace normal life before you know it you will be like "Wow this is really gonna happen."

  • Congrats!  Hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

I don't think you ever get over the fear/anxiety.  And as far as getting on with life, well you just do it.  For me, Sea Bands (or Psi Bands) work wonders for my morning sickness.  The only thing I have issue with is the pure exhaustion -- I have a 2yr old at home to chase after work.

    Good luck!

  • Hi and congrats.  I'm just as paranoid as you are right now.  I will need to travel a lot for work coming up shortly and it's really too early for me to tell my boss what's going on.  *Everything* makes me sick right now and I'm not exactly thrilled with the idea of getting on a plane in a couple weeks.  I hope your trip goes well... oh and I have no clue how you get on, you just need to try not to act like a nut in the office LOL...thankfully no one has noticed just yet :)

  • Congrats and GL!

This is my 2nd and I still don't know how to get thru the 1st tri. without crying, puking and crying some more. 2nd tri is a TON better so just look forward to that and take it one day at a time. It flies by!

  • Aw, thanks much everyone! :) I think it will be easier once my boyfriend realizes there is actually a baby in there.  Ha, I know he's just afraid to get excited because we had resolved this wouldn't happen.

I'm surprised at how fast I "felt pregnant."  I knew well before I got a BFP, but didn't want to get my hopes up.  Now I just want to sleep, eat, cry and apparently, throw up.  ;)

  • I know how you feel! I am 4 weeks and it is my first pregnancy. I have not had a miscarriage, but I am very paranoid about one for some reason. It seems that most mothers worry at some point. Good luck!!

  • Welcome and congrats!
  • Dont be paranoid and check with your doctor about traveling I am sure the first two trimesters will be fine. Your a nervous wreck I am sure I have had three boys and pregnant with #4 hopefully a girl. Just talk with your doctor about your concerns and remember your protecting that baby really well so dont worry. Eat well, take lots of walks and be excited you deserve it!! Congrats :)

  • Reading your post was like reading my own story. My husband and I actually had no more hopes to get pregnat without fertility treatments. Now that it happened I am also completely paranoid. You're not alone!!!!

  • Hi, I am glad you mentioned the way you feel. I am 8 weeks and I feel the exact same way. I get a cramp and run to the bathroom right away. I got an ultrasound this week and that made me feel much better. Except today I woke up and my boobs weren't hurting like they do first thing in the morning so I am back to worried mode again.

  • Welcome, and yes I too am paranoid as ever. I feel like I am just not doing things the BEST that I could. I am guessing that it is a normal thing! But congratulations!
