If you have *bad* "twin skin..."

What do you wear?  How do you dress yourself?  I have had 2 sets of twins in less than 2 years and my body is pretty much destroyed.  I am now 6 months postpartum and I look about 6 months pregnant.  Every time I leave my house, someone asks me when I am due.  I have one pair of yoga pants that I pull up to just below my belly button, and those are the only pants I have that fit ok.  My full-panel maternity pants fall down, but I can't wear non-maternity pants because they really hurt my stomach.  And I have no idea what to do for a top that doesn't look like a tent, but isn't too tight, and doesn't look like a maternity top!  Anyone have any suggestions?  I am tired of the comments!

  • it's hard.  When I was about 4mo post partum with the twins I went on Jenny craig and lost about 30lbs in about 7 months.  The following year I lost another 10-15....  the more i lost the grosser the skin looked - more of a flap, more grossness, etc.

I have some great shaping underwear that sort of flattens all the flub out so it's not lumpy, etc.  I wear spanx any time I wear a dress...

As for jeans- I got the Lee Riders from Walmart --- thanks to stacy london being on the ad for them or i never would have even tried them- but i LOVE them b/c they have some stretch, go up a little higher than the average pants (but aren't horrible mom jeans) and fit me well. they are also cheap so you can buy more as you lose more weight.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • That is tough.  My 2 sets are 6 years and 6 days apart, but I do feel your pain.  I had to buy pants that fit me in the waist, but were too big on the butt and thighs.  By the end of the day they wre falling down.  I had two pairs of jeans that I would rotate.  Also I found it hard to exercise because my shirt would ride up.  So when I ran, I would have physically hold my shirt down so I didnt expose my flab.

I like Old navy yoga pants and skirts.  The waist band is larger and could be turned down.  Also I would wear a longer tank under my shirts to help hide and ooth things out.    Long cardigans are also wonderful to help hide. I had some luck with pants with the loft, they tend to run larger in the waist.

  • I still look about 5 months pregnant.  My stomach basically just flopped over after delivery.  Its baaaaaaaad.  I wear a heavy duty spanx type garment (with boning) under everything.  It holds my belly up and in!   I got it @ Macy's.  I hate it, but its the only way I look even remotely presentable.  With this binder thing, I'm not limited to just flowy shirts and big pants.  I still have a belly, but its less obvious.

  • I'm going through the same problem as you right now.  I gained a bit too much with this pg, and with the c-section, and not losing the baby weight, I've got a big gut.  It is so hard to find pants!  you're so right about maternity pants...they just fall down, and regular pants are too tight in the middle and end up making me have double rolls with major muffin top.  Big roll on top, big roll on the bottom.  I just buy bigger sizes and I keep trying on all types and shapes of jeans in the hopes of finding something comfy.

  • I haven't had my twins yet, so I can't speak to twin skin specifically, but prior to getting pregnant I did lose 120 pounds rather quickly after having gastric bypass.

Before I got pregnant I wore shaping underwear every single day. They're uncomfortable and I hate them, but I hate my stomach more. I'm really hoping that after my twins come I will have some success in getting my insurance to pay for a tummy tuck (panniculectomy). Loose, hanging skin is really gross and I'm sick of dealing with it. I also get rashes underneath. Blech, blech, blech.

This - exactly, only I got mine at Kohl's.  I have the full coverage type that is like a leotard but it's a wear your own bra.  I need it to suck stuff in on my back, too, so I like the full coverage kind.
