What does your LO wear under a bottomless sleepsack?

So, I got a bunch of sleep sacks as gifts, but not the zipper ones, the ones that are like a onesie, but open at the bottom. So almost like a long dress with elastic at the bottom. When so they wear these!? Seem impractical to sleep in because it would ride up. Are you suppose to put some sort of sleep pants on with them?

Am I just a stupid first time mom??

Re: What does your LO wear under a bottomless sleepsack?

  • That's a night gown - they wear it like pajamas. It doesn't usually ride up on my LO while she's asleep.. You can put a sleep sack on over it.

  • Like PP said, that's a gown. I was putting them on my LO under her sleepsack and it was working well... I only stopped recently b/c she's started to protest me putting it over her head, so we've switched it up. But it worked great for the first 10 weeks...

  • Just a diaper obviously.  Never had a problem with them riding up.

  • Ugh! I had a few of these w/ DD 1. All they do is ride up. They were such a pain we only used them a few times then got rid of them. Sleepers are so much better and warmer. If you want to use them you could put a sleep sack over them like pp suggested. It would be warmer and prevent riding up. I personally think the person who invented them should be shot but they seem to work for some people.

  • According to my mom, they used to have drawstrings at the bottom. She loved them because it makes diaper changes easy in the middle of the night. I think that's still the concept with them.

  • I hate those, I find them so hard to put on and never long enough for lo... Sleepers are easier in my books! I don't think ur suppose to put anything under them

  • I love them.  Most of the ones I have button up instead of go over the head.  Usually I don't do anything but a diaper and they don't ride up.  If I think she's chilly sometimes I put babylegs on her.  They're so easy for night time changes.

  • I loved them while they fit, but DS is too long now.
  • I u sed these when my DD was first born. I didn't put anything under it other than an undershirt and socks. She was swaddled most of the time anyway and it didn't seem to ride up.

  • I couldn't live w/o these. DS has a harness for hip dysplasia, and they are the only things he can wear to bed besides fleece sleep bags.  I love them because they make nighttime diaper changes so easy!

  • I love sleep gowns for early days when there were a lot of diaper changes. We'd put him in one dvd then a halo swaddle sleep sack. In the middle of the night we could unzip and change the diaper without undoing the swaddle or messing with the legs of a sleeper.

  • I didn't care for them at all. LO's feet would get cold if worn alone and if I paired it with his halo it would get all bunched up.

  • Thanks for all your feedback! I think because she is a winter baby they made less sense to me. But the diaper changing does seem like if would be easier!
  • Nothing, it never rode up.

  • I love to put LO in sleep gowns! They don't ride up on him and he wears a onesie underneath.

Yep, same here.  Sometimes DD will wear them during the day at home.  Sometimes she'll wear them at night with a swaddle over the nightgown.

  • Just diaper and socks underneath. My LO is very squirmy and scoots around at night, and they never rode up. I've since quit using them bc I think they're a pain to put on, but I liked it best when I put a zippered sleep sack over the gown.

  • Just a diaper.  My LO loves them.  They do not ride up on her and she is squirmy in her sleep.  I think she likes the feeling of her bare legs touching one another because they are always tucked up close when she wears the night gowns.
