STTN, Do I need to pump?

DS just recently started STTN, going for about 9 hour stretches between feedings. The first few nights I was really engourged and in pain but last night I was swollen but not in as much pain. I'm worried my supply is going to go down, do I need to wake in the middle of the night to pump? Since he has only been sleeping these long stretches the past few nights I'm worried it won't last and if I pump he will wake up shortly after and want to eat. Advice?

    Your body will adjust. Your supply will go down overnight (so you're not leaking and hurting), but it will make what he needs during the day. If he starts eating overnight again, your body will adjust again.

    I would never wake to pump. I would thank God and sleep... being as my LO has never, ever sttn.

    I set my alarm and got up and pumped for a very short time (I'm talking.. like 3 days) before sleep won over.  Your body adjusts, and if he stops STTN, it will adjust back.  Enjoy the rest!

    I would say it depends on how bad it is. Mine were only like that for the first 2-3 days but I didn't wake up to pump. If I woke up before DS I would pump at least one side. If I pumped both sides and he were to wake up, I would just give him the milk I just expressed by bottle. Now it's not an issue. I also found it helped to have him eat on both sides before I went to sleep at night, if he would. Good luck :)

    when I was EPing and cut out pumpings from bedtime to morning I noticed a big drop in supply after 1-2 weeks.  But I cut out that pumping b/c I was going back to work at 12 weeks and wanted to get more sleep.  I still made enough BM to keep up with how much DD was eating but just didn't build my FBM stash as quickly.

    I pumped when LO started STTN to start building a stash. It sucked, but in the end, it was worth it.
