I've read lots of stories where VBAC women used EPO to get things going. What can you tell me about it? Just collecting info for when baby is close to full term.
Data goes back and forth on this. EPO is meant to soften the cervix to help effacement and get labor going. My midwife wasn't comfortable having me use it because there is some information to suggest that it also softens the scar tissue. This is coming from a midwife who WAS comfortable inducing me with pit.
But I did take it with my first pregnancy and didn't think it did much for me. Effacement was never my issue. It was dilating that my body never wanted to do without a fight.
I do know some people did use it for their VBACs though without any issues.
You can start at 35 weeks. Get 500 mg capsules. You take a total of 4 in a day. 2 by mouth in the am 1 by mouth in the pm 1 inserted in the vagina at bedtime (poke a hole in it 1st)
