Trouble TTC

X-posted: First mon. appt and TENs unit question

I got follies! I was told I "was responding really well to the meds". I don't know why, but I had a fear that I wouldn't be. Anyhoo, they saw 3-4 small follies on the left and "a bunch" whatever that means, on the right. Tentative ER is next Friday.

Things so far look good. My only concern is DH's sperm. Our last SA revealed 10 million so it's going up (thank God!) but he has just started using a TENs Unit for his back pain. Anyone familiary with this? I am not sure if it impacts his counts at all. We left a msg with his uro, but he usually takes a few days to get back to us and we can find a thing on Dr. Google! Smile

  • Glad to hear that you are responding so well!  I'm not familiar with that medication but I hope his sperm count is great.  Friday will be here before you know it!

Thanks hun! I have a feeling no one will be familiar with it as I wasn't until DH brought it home from his physical therapy place, lol. It's actually a device the sends some sort of electrodes or endorphins to his spine causing pain to ease.

  • I don't see why a TENs unit would interfere with his count. Its electrical stimulation is really low and pretty targeted to the affected area. I actually have one as well and also use it for the backpain.

I remember when I first got it I mentioned that we were TTC and asked if it would cause any problems ( i heard a rumor it can cause spontaneous m/c) but they said not to worry at all. My physical therapist actually went and did a bunch of research just to put my mind at ease. Thus, she told me that it doesnt give nearly enough power to travel from the back to the front, let alone mess with your hubbys count.

This is just what I know, but it can never hurt to call and ask if you're still worried.

Yay! I am so happy someone knew what it was! Thanks so much for putting my mind at ease! We will still wait to hear from the uro, but who knows when that will be! Thanks again!

  • Yeah no problem! Haha it is a weird little device but I guess it does help a some. I have chronic lower back pain, which is why I was worried about it myself. Thankfully I had a great physical therapist do all the extra research for me.

You must have great insurance! I'm military and I had to jump through some hoops to get a TENs unit haha! Nifty, but pricey!

    Good luck!

  • First off very exciting on all your good news!  Don't worry about the TENS.  They are quite safe.  I even know a guy that has one surgically implanted due to a spinal injury. As long as he is using it on his back he is fine.  My husband uses his all the time his nephro/uro says it is fine.

Thank you thank you thank you! DH might need to get this done if within 3 months his pain isn't manageable with the outer unit. He will be so relieved to hear that there is no effect on sperm. You ladies rock!
