STTN! But...

At our two month appointment LO was prescribed Zantac for his acid reflux and since he has started sleeping for longer stretches at night ( 8 to 9 hours) but for the past few nights I have woken up to find him rotated a full 90 degrees! He starts off the night in his PnP vertical and wakes up horizontal. I keep him swaddled in a swaddle me blanket but I'm a little worried since he is moving so much, should I start unswaddling him? Should I be concerned that he may roll over? Anyone else have this issue?

  • I never know how I'm going to find Addy! She squirms around so much in her bed :-)

She's never liked being swaddled, so I'm not sure what to do in that one. I can tell you that sleep sacks are the best things in the universe if you don't have any. She squirms enough to get blankets worked loose, so we got sleep sacks. Heaven sent!

  • DD does this every night!  She sleeps in a sleep sack so I don't have the swaddle concern, but I just can't believe how much she wiggles around at night!  I never hear her even do it!

  • DS has a really bad startle reflex so I have to keep him swaddled at night or he doesn't sleep well. We tried the sleep sack one night and it was an epic fail :( But I'm glad to know my wiggle worm isn't alone, I never hear him moving either!

  • Do you have any of the Halo sleep sacks? They make a swaddler line that is awesome and runs up to some pretty big sizes. I got one at a baby shower, and it worked except that Addy hates swaddling. My best friend swears by them for all 3 of her kids.

  • I agree that a sleep sack is the best invention in the universe!  LO was out of his swaddle but kicking his blankets off and waking up during the night because he got cold.  Then we got him a sleep sack and he can kick and wriggle all he wants and it keeps him nice and warm.

Thanks! I have heard great things about Halo but I don't own one, do you think it could help with his moving around? Could I just be using the wrong swaddle?

He's probably still going to squirm around and end up at odd angles, but what I like about the Halo sacks is that you can swaddle arms in or arms out, whichever LO needs. They're tough, too..it took Addy almost 10 minutes to break out of it.

  • Oh my gosh, I was going to post something very similar today.  My little guy starts with his head toward the top of the crib, by the morning he's turned all the way around and has his head at the opposite end!  I thought it was because he was uncomfortable from reflux but he's on meds now and it's still the same.  I worry that he's not sleeping soundly but I don't know what to do.

We swaddle too and won't be able to stop anytime soon.  LO flails arms and legs all around unless he's swaddled and it's not until he's snug in the swaddle that he'll finally calm down.
