Full day preschool/daycare w/ pre school in N. Arlington

I know the county has a list & I can look up info & such, but I was wondering if anyone had any specific experiences they cared to share.

Not sure if we're going to move Sprout to preschool/daycare "preschool" at 2+ or 3+ (and i'm aware not all preschools take 2 year olds)

TIA

  • I don't have a specific preschool in mind, but I just wanted to say that most preschools I've been looking at are doing their lotteries now for the fall (either they just did them or they're doing them in the coming week).  These are primarily part-time programs so it may be different for full time.  I just wanted to mention the timing in case you're seriously considering sending him in the fall (at 2).  GL!

  • We have since moved, but my DD would have attended preschool here if we had stayed (she was in the daycare from 7 to 20 months): Clarendon First Baptist Church Child Development Center. Its about 2 blocks from the Clarendon metro. I really loved her daycare providers, but I have no information regarding the specifics of the preschool program. GL!

  • The full-time and part-time searches I think are very different.  We're looking at full-times and it seems a lot like looking at daycare centers.  Get your application in early and hope for a spot off the wait list.  (Except the Montessori place - but I gather that that method of schools has a different process in general.)

Maybe it's just the places we're looking at, or FT in general, but the ones we've looked into all have 2s rooms of some kind.

One of the families at our daycare sends their older child there and they really like it.

We are looking at full-day preschool (really half day preschool that offers after school care) and the choices are fairly limited. One program we are looking at does have a two year old program and they are in Falls Church. PM me if you want the information.

  • Thanks everyone for their feedback! If anyone has a center they'd recommend in N. Arlington, I'm all ears for that too.

VABride- I just looked into the first few on Arl's list & they either just started accepting applications or don't have that info up yet. If I lose out this year, it's not a huge deal (especially since Sprout will be 5 when he starts actual school...plenty of time for preK)
