Is this cause for concern?

My DD usually wakes up @4 am for a feeding and goes back to bed. Well this mornig, she woke up but did not want to eat! She snacked a bit, spit it up, would not take my breast or a bottle. DH said that she did not seem hungry at all. She went back to sleep after awhile.

Idk if I should give her pediatritian a call or if this is normal.

  • If it's just one time, wait it out.  My little porker does this at night some times, then he wakes up super hungry later.  If she's acting normal otherwise, I wouldn't worry.

  • No need to worry.  Babies can change up their typical "schedule" at any time.

  • My friend was saying that this is how they got their LO to sleep longer stretches at night.  She started waking up at the normal time, but not really interested in eating.  They think she was just used to waking up at that time, so for a few nights they went in when she woke up, comforted her, shushed her and she fell back to sleep.  She eventually stopped waking up for that feeding and is now STTN.  I am going to try this when/if E ever gets uninterested in his 4am feeding!

  • All interesting stuff, ty for sharing. She did wake up hungry. I will hold off on calling peditatrician for now.

This is exactly what Ella went through right before she started STTN. She would wake up but only nurse off of one side before falling asleep, then went to not even finishing off one side a few nights later. Now she eats a ton right before she goes off to bed at night instead of waking up for more frequent feedings.

  • I'm so glad you asked this question! Last night L woke up and only nursed a few minutes before falling back to sleep. 2 hours later he ate a 4 oz. bottle. Then 2 hours after that he ate 1 oz. then immediately spit it all up. I thought he might be sick or something. Wow, to think he could possibly be getting ready to STTN. Now I'm excited!
