BF'ers and Pumpers

So, I know you should pump after feeding in the morning and this is what I have been doing.

I am concerned that by the time my baby is done, she isn't really getting all the hind milk. I end up pumping all of that out and saving that for later/freezing instead of giving it to her at next feeding or now. Does this make sense? Would't it make more sense to pump some before she eats so she gets more of the hindmilk?

Basically, how can I ensure my baby is getting the hind milk now?

Any thoughts on this?

TIA!

Re: BF'ers and Pumpers

  • If you let baby completely empty the first breast before switching her, she will get enough hindmilk.  If you have an oversupply or a fast letdown, then you could pump a little right before feeding, but I wouldn't pump more than an ounce probably.  As long as her poop is not green, she's getting the hindmilk.
