Hello everyone! I just wanted to hear from people who have also experienced the first movements of their baby in the first trimester. I'm a small woman, 5'1 & 115 lbs. I am currently 10 weeks, 5 days. I felt my first movement at exactly 10 weeks. It felt like a muscle spasm almost, and lasted about 3 seconds. It made me gasp at first :]
PS - I don't care if you didn't feel your baby move this early. And I am not an idiot who has never felt gas. Gas feels nothing like twitching.
Re: First flutters?!
"it just gives you this amazing filled up joyous feeling!"
Apparently gas or muscle spasms give you this feeling because it wasn't the baby.

did you see the unicorn too???
OPer, it is probably gas/bloat. Give it about another 10 weeks and then tell me how the movement is. Gas/movement is a night and day difference. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt because I *think* this might be your first pregnancy. No snark intended. Trust me on this one.

Did you lurk a little before you started posting, or did you just jump right in? If in your post you comment "no negative reply's please!" you're going to be pretty guaranteed to get some responses that you don't like. It's the internet, it's nothing to get upset about, just ignore if if you don't like it. It's NBD.
Where abouts did you feel the "flutter" more than likely your baby is still VERY low in your pelvis. So unless you felt it right above your Vagaygay it was just a spasm. I feel those all the time, it's not the baby though. I am also petite and didn't feel my son move until 20 weeks.
At that point your baby is less than half an ounce, that's less than a SHOT of whiskey, and about the size of prune. At my last appt my baby was just under my belly button and the nurse was very surprised, because like I said most of the time it's very low in the pelvis. I was 12 weeks 4 days.
The spasm feeling was right where my "panty line" is, on the left side. It felt like a rapid gentle thudding or a spasm like I said. The location and how strange it felt was why I attributed it to the baby. I have been having lots of gas the last few weeks too, so the difference in the feeling caught me off gaurd.
Thats because it was a spasm.
HTH.
Here's a fact: at 10 weeks your baby is 1" long & weighs less than a quarter of an ounce.
Surely it is moving in there, but the chances of you feeling it, esp as a first time mom, are slim to none.
It will be exciting when it happens for real though.

Even if you are carry twins, at 10 weeks there is not a possibility that you felt first flutters/kicks. Although the arms and legs are developed, the weight of your baby(ies) is approximately a quarter oz and about 1.25 inches long. The size/weight of your baby(ies) would prevent you from feeling any flutters at this point... unless you are way further along than 10 weeks.
The average time that first-time pregnant mothers feel their baby is 18 week. For some, no earlier than 16 weeks. Unless there is a problem, most have felt their "first flutters" by 21 weeks. First felt flutters are usually referred to as "quickening". Often times first-time mothers mistake first flutters for gas, the need to void/deficate, and/or cramps. There are a lot of changes going inside of your abdomen, so things(organs) moving around and growing to accommodate your baby(ies) are often mistaken for the first flutters.
I am a young nurse who has worked on a labor/delivery floor and I have no children (although I'm currently 4 1/2 weeks pregnant). I do not claim to be an expert in this field, but do have a working knowledge of how the body grows and changes.
I could see how you may have been offended by some of the previous comments, but remember we are all on the same team. This forum has really good questions and advice from people from all walks of life and experience. Since I'm new to this team too, I rely on the people who have gone through this before me to tell me what to expect. I would also recommend buying a "What to Expect..." book. I've found that those books are really helpful.

OP, what happened to???: "it just gives you this amazing filled up joyous feeling!"
Now, feeling the sperm meet the egg is a TOTALLY different story. If she said that, I'd totally believe her. It gives your uterus an "amazing filled up joyous feeling!"
Beth, I have also spoken with other women who have felt this. Many women will refute it because they have never felt it. This is why I directed the post at other women who had indeed experienced these feelings! Thank you for sharing your story. This helps me feel less insane, hahaha.
Jen, wow 9 weeks! That is awesome. Thank you for sharing your experience. :]]
Yeah exactly! I haven't felt it since that first day, except I felt a "roll" the same day. Gas just feels waaay different.
Oh come on, we're not bashing. We're just having fun. Sense of humor, anyone?

Thank you...this was my feeling exactly. I didn't realize I would upset so many people with my joy. Not everyone has a mom to ask these things, some of us get on a forum for support from other peoples moms.
It is not nice to have fun at the expense of someone else. Take your evil hormones somewhere else please. I do enjoy the block feature.
Some of you are just having fun and some are just being intentionally rude, which is not at all funny. There is a difference. People love to sit behind there computers and be rude to people that they never have to actually see in real life and it's just obnoxious. I get that the world isn't puppies and rainbows, but people get carried away. She didn't come on her with a malicious post. Attack people who are asking for it.
You and OP are taking the internet way too seriously.

Nah, some people just aren't as miserable and rude as others. That's all.
i've said it before. i'll say it again. thanks for the entertainment. i have thoroughly enjoyed reading and laughing at all the posts...
those who are defending the "meanness" you have to remember that these posts come on here almost 1 time a day, and even if the op hasn't seen those posts, when you look at the facts of how much the baby weighs and the force of which it would take to actually feel a kick, it's kind of a long shot that it's really the baby kicking. true everyone's pregnancy is different, but after a while reading these same posts about ftm's feeling flutters at 9 or 10 weeks gets a little old...well i guess not for me b/c it always is fun to read, lol!!!
You would actually be considered one of the rude ones. It's not stupid to not be sure weather or not she felt a baby move. It's her first pregnancy. Of course, I'm sure you never wondered anything during your pregnancy because you are all knowing and would never ask such a silly question, so you can't possibly understand.
No, maybe some of you should just GROW UP! It's not funny if it's at someone elses expense. What are you teaching your children?!?!? Cyberbullying is cool... lol mommy does it all the time. So immature!
