Potties

With two or more, did you get the potty chairs or just the potty seats?  With the chairs they can both sit at the same time - not sure how likely that will be.  With the seats there is no further mess - just flush.  Or go with both???

TIA

With two, I find it's nice to have an assortment. :-)  We were initially given two different hand-me-down potties and a potty seat.  I liked the concept of the potty seat, but I didn't like having one more thing to deal with in the bathroom.  I finally gave up and got a new toilet seat that has a smaller kid seat in it (you can get them at Home Depot, etc) and I love it.  You'll likely want to have at least one small potty because my girls generally want to go to the bathroom at the same time  I really like the ikea potties.  One piece, simple, cheap, and they stack so they don't take up a ton of room.  I highly recommend getting two of the same potty so the don't fight over which one they use.   Now, it seems like it's settled out that I have one girl that uses the big potty and one that uses one of the variety of small potties we have although occasionally they'll switch it up.

    Same ;-)

We have two small potties (the ones on the floor) and two toilet inserts (1 for upstairs bath and 1 for downstairs bath)  My boys prefer to sit on the little potties - the seat inserts on the toilet freak them out a little.  They think they are going to fall off or in.

But my husband prefers the toilet inserts b/c he is freaked out about having to clean out the little potty (even though they haven't gone in them yet!)

I wonder if our lack of consistency is the problem Stick out tongue

  • I think it's smart to have both.  Some kids don't like to use the potty seat on the big potty (my Gibby won't)... and it's nice to have potty chairs so you can have them really close to where you spend most of your time when potty training.

my twins aren't even PTing at the same time but both like to sit on the potty- so if you plan to PT together you need 2 potties for sure. You want to be able to be with both of them at the same time- not running to the bathroom with one , etc...

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • I agree with PP about a variety. At first, my DDs loved sitting on their frog potties (potty chairs), but then they both were fighting over who got to sit on the big toilet with the ring. Numerous times I thought about how it would be nice to have two big toilets in the same bathroom, haha! (Only a twin mom would think of this!)

I also have the Potette Plus travel potty that has been a lifesaver out in public. It fits public restroom toilets and you can flip the sides to make a potty for inside the car, etc. You just put the liner in (which is basically a plastic bag with a square absorbent center) and it is portable! Love it!

Just wanted to give a big "Amen!" to this. We have 2 different potties, and even though the kids *want* to use their potties, we haven't been able to do it regularly because they always fight over them. Soon we'll get a 2nd matching one of one of them so they can use them more regularly.

  • We have 2 of the same potty chairs -- often have one downstairs and one upstairs for convenience. Then we got a travel potty with a vacuum seal for use at Grandma's, etc. ETA: travel potty is the My Carry Potty

  • Thank you so much.  I am nervous about this and obviously planning ahead.  I have some coupons that I need to use before Sunday.  It looks like variety is the way to go.
