Trouble TTC

I was called an "irate patient" this morning

Why? Because I asked a question about an authorization the front desk staff asked me to sign.

My question: What exactly is this because I never signed one last summer.

Staff calls financial person: Hi, I have an irate patient who is refusing to sign the required authorization and is blaming you for messing up her authorization.

Then front desk staff person said if you don't sign, we won't do anything this morning. You really need to contact us on CD1.

I said, yeah, I know and I did. I can show you the emails if you need to see them. I'm here this morning because my nurse told me to come between 7 and 7:30 for monitoring. And my financial person was included in these emails. And I talked with my insurance company, too, since I'd been on a break. Everyone said everything was good to go, so nurse told me to come in.

I'm curious to see if my nurse asks about my encounter with the front staff this morning when I talk with her this afternoon.

ETA - I was in no way irate. I didn't even raise my voice or get snarky. I just asked what I thought to be a simple question. :-)

Re: I was called an "irate patient" this morning

  • Whoa! How dare you ask a question I guess. I would maybe bring that up to someone, seems like she really took it out of context.

My RE said something to the affect of I know she'll take this hard since she's so sensitive to DH after my lap. So I'm labeled sensitive by mine.

  • Oh my, after that I WOULD have been an irate patient.  Totally uncalled for.  I hate when people do stuff like that.  A simple question and they are just too dumb to recognize it.  Instead they make a big deal out of it and soon you are labeled a "difficult patient"  I'm so sorry you had to deal with such an incompetent front desk person at your clinic.  Hopefully, it will be brought up with someone else just so you can clarify what actually happened.

  • My nurse will probably laugh at the front desk staff if they bring it up. I'm known as the easy going one with a great attitude....as well as being a tough stick. When the nurses walk by the lab and see me, they say oh good luck with getting any blood out of her. One of my first monitoring appointments fell on a weekend and all the nurses on staff took a shot at getting my blood. Blood work sucks. Sucks even more when they poke multiple times, but I know the lab tech is doing their best so I laugh about being a tough stick.

  • That's ridiculous. I would have said to her that I wasn't irate until she accused me of being so. How rude! Ugh, it's terrible when you have to deal with awful people and have no choice!

  • Wow, I can't believe they called you irate in front of you!  I find the front desk/financial people at doctor's offices often have no ability to cope with being questioned about their usual procedures.  I bet your nurse will have a different take!

  • Wow, that is so uncalled for. They are lucky you didn't become "irate" after calling you that to your face for no reason. I would definitely tell the nurse/doctor how you were treated by the front desk staff. They need some customer service training!

  • Wow!! Sounds like someone peed in her cheerios this morning!! And where in the heck did she get her people/ customer service skills to say " Hi, I have an irate patient who is refusing to sign the required authorization and is blaming you for messing up her authorization."  Was she like 17 and just didn't know any better???

  • That is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!  And if that's what the front desk person thought.. she for sure should not have stated that in front of you. That's craziness. I would have said well I wasn't irate but I am now!

  • LOL Um, after that comment I would have shown them what irate looks like.

  • Wow Indifferent  I would have said something to HER.  That is just rude and uncalled for.  Even if you were actually irate, that's still rude.  I would definitely say something.  IF and treatments are already emotional enough, you don't need someone acting like that for no reason!
