CD12 u/s results & "residual" clomid follicle question

Hey girls!

For those following along on my ttc journey, i wanted to give you an update on our first non-medicated but monitored cycle and I had a couple of questions (naturally!) that i bolded in case you just want to jump in on them & not read the rest ;)

I just returned from my CD12 U/S this afternoon and found my (30mm!) cyst from last cycle that was found on my CD3 U/S was gone (phew). I have two follies on my left side - one 12mm and one 16mm. The doc called the 16mm "residual" from my clomid cycle and that it's looking good.  I have a few >10 follies on right side so those are a no-go.

Q: anyone else have a "residual" effect from clomid their next cycle?
I am assuming this means my follie got the tailwind of the clomid from last cycle and that's why it's nice and big. Of course, this got me thinking that maybe w/out this clomid "residual" my follies would be small and not mature. I have no way of knowing this since during my other unmedicated IUIs we didn't monitor.

My lining is 7.1 so it's getting there. I will probably ask to take progesterone this cycle, just in case.
Q: I've heard taking progesterone tablets pro-actively (as in, w/out a low test result that cycle) is safe and is good insurance if you have a shorter LP or previous low progesterone counts (both is true for me). Does this sound about right to you guys?

So now the plan is to wait for me to get a +OPK and then do B2B IUIs (day of of +OPK and day after). Based on CM and +OPKs i have taken so far and this u/s i'm thinking i'll see the smiley face tomorrow or Saturday.

I am a little disappointed we are not triggering b/c i wanted to "ensure" that this follie pops out an egg at the right time but i think the only way we'd get a trigger is if we go in tomorrow and Sat for another u/s, which would be crazy $ and seems unnecessary since i usually get +OPKs. I just like the idea of a shot that "makes" something happen! Also, i was looking forward to testing out the trigger and indulging in my POAS-obsessesion. I'm just hoping this egg pops out based on my natural LH surge!

Q: can you test out your natural LH like you do with the LH trigger?

I'm carrying & we are using anonymous donor sperm
In March 2012 diagnosed with Diminished Ovarian Reserve (AMH = O.67) & IVF recommended

FET (2 5dt embryos) on 11/5/12= BFP! Beta #1=58; Beta #2=98, Beta #3=373. First u/s on 11/28/12 = 1 sac with fetal pole & heartbeat! Next u/s = 12/12/12

TTC History
IVF#1 (Antagonist Protocol) Sept 2012 = BFN
10R; 8F; 4 Day5 GradeA embryos. Put back 2, froze 2.
12 IUIs (in 9 cycles) since March 2011:
6 unmedicated/unmonitored = BFNs
3 with Clomid/Trigger/monitoring/progesterone = BFNs

    This sounds right to me.  I also have LPD and low progesterone.  On my first clomid cycle, I tested in the average range, and they denied me progesterone supplements.  Sure enough, I had a short luteal phase again.  So, now I get the progesterone to start the day after my IUI.

    Q: can you test out your natural HSG like you do with the HSG trigger?

    Hmm.... I haven't heard of this.  I don't think you can do this.  But, I'll be interested to read the other responses.

    I think you might be confusing LH with HCG. LH is the hormone which causes you to ovulate and is what OPK's detect, and HCG is the pregnancy hormone you only produce when you are pregnant. I'm not sure testing out your LH would be worth it, IMO, since it wouldnt be doing anything but essentially wasting OPK's for 10 or so days until you *might* get a positive which *might* mean your pregnant.  

    Either way, wishing you lots of luck on your current cycle!! I hope this is your BFP!

    4/5 lap revealed blocked left tube, but right tube is open
    April/May- 50 mg Clomid + Ovidrel + IUI #1= CANCELLED left ovary ovulating
    June 1- 100 mg Clomid + Ovidrel + IUI #1 = BFN
    June 28- 100 mg Clomid + Ovidrel + IUI #2 =BFP!
    7/12 Beta #1= 14 Beta #2= >5 Chemical Pregnancy :(
    July-Nov long break to recover emotionally and financially
    Nov 24- 100 mg Clomid + Ovidrel + IUI #3= BFN
    Jan 22- Gonal-F + Ovidrel + IUI# 4 = CANCELLED no response on right
    IVF #1- Start stims 4/7, ER 4/20, 21R, 14F, 6 frosties, ET 4/25, 2 embryos transferred= BFN :(
    FET #1- June 2012, Lurpon starts 5/27- CANCELLED
    FET #1 take 2- August 2012, delayed until Sept-CANCELLED
    FET #1 take 3- ET 10/11, 2 embryos transferred,= BFFN
    FET #2- Transfer 12/4--Cancelled, no embies survived thaw :(
    Next steps-- IVF #2 with new RE in March
    HOLY SURPRISE BFP 2/15/13!!!! Beta 1- 286, Beta 2- 782, First Ultrasound 2/25- baby in uterus & all looks good!
