Besides the two weeks I had to feed DD with formula, I have been EBFing since two weeks old. DD is now almost 11 weeks and she refuses to take a bottle. I haven't been using a bottle because I was afraid LO would not want to breast anymore if she found it was easier to eat from a bottle. We've had a lot of issue including fore/hindmilk imbalance, forceful letdown, and low supply, so a bottle hasn't been in the picture. now I'm facing situations, like possibly returning to work where DD needs to eat from a bottle but she simply refuses it. How can I get her used to the bottle? She won't even take a pacifier either...she spits it right out. TIA
Re: introducing a bottle, help!
I'm back to report success! I had always gone into another room - and this morning I read somewhere that babies can smell mom from at least 20 ft away (not sure how accurate that is, but anyway) so I left the house today.
She took the bottle from my husband with only 2 minutes of effort! We've been trying anything to get her to take a bottle or pacifier. Also, we tried the playtex drop on murder with the latex nipple. I'd read about a lot of success with those in particular, so I went out and got one today.
So, now that it's worked for us, those are my tips! Good luck.
Hahah, worst autocorrect ever! Meant Drop in Nurser, not murder! Phone don't let me correct the original post.
There is always spoon feeding if it comes to that, but hopefully it will work out.
