Are you/Would you take imitrex?

Kelly mom says it's under the list of AAP approved medications.  But with my DS being so small I worry that the 'approval' is for larger babies.  I've had a headache for about three days now and all I can do is tylenol/ice/heat/baths/etc.  I'm about to break down and take the Imitrex a couple of times today (that's how much it takes to work) and just keep an eye on DS.  I hate to waste their time by calling the nurses b/c I feel they'll only be as knowledgable as the stuff I can find online.

Did you ladies with Migraines go right back to taking your migraine med after baby was born?  I'm BF and that's what makes me nervous..

Re: Are you/Would you take imitrex?

  • They are pretty strict about what is approved, so I would trust that it is ok if it made it on the list. I'm taking an antibiotic that is on the list as not ok, but the doctor said it is fine to take in small bursts. This makes me very nervous, but I know how strict they are about giving the "ok" especially for pregnant women.

  • I refuse to take imitrex for my migraines before pregnancy...I don't find it all that helpful and often end up with rebound headaches, so I wouldn't but for other reasons.  I always found that excedrin and a cup of coffee were my most effective with least side effects option
  • My doctor told me No Imitrex unless I wasn't breast feeding! I had a bad one, so I took a Tylenol and half a Tylenol PM and just had my fianc? supplement with formula because I needed to be in the darkest/quietest room with my face buried in pillows to shake it away! If you have someone to help you, try it!
  • I refuse to take it while BF.  I wasn't allowed to take it during pregnancy, so I'm waiting until done BF to take it again.
