California girls-the beach boys song? What's wrong with that? I'm out of the loop, do forgive me if it's a new song. There is no place for sexy and I know it in a school. It's inappropriate for that aetting, plus it's the dumbest song ever

So Joey actually performing the "wiggle, wiggle, wiggle" portion of the song (complete with penis shake) is over the top inappropriate huh!?
I wouldn't sweat it. I promise you that singing Sexy and I Know It will not lead to a future profession of stripping.
OMG! That must be hilarious!
It was funny the first 5 times. Maybe 10. But now, it's just too much! LOL
He is his funniest friend....and LOVES making people laugh. He just tends to be a bit inappropriate at times. And if you knew me and Joe IRL, you would also know we are exactly the same (I'm sure you can probably tell here too). My kids are doomed.

I can deff tell from here! Lol I tend to agree with most of the stuff you say.
My kids school was playing the same sort o songs including sexy and I know it for gym class as well. I thought it was in appropriate but before ibhad a chance to do anything about it a note came home apologizing for poor music choice for such young listeners. Apparently several parents complained. I don't think it is going to cause my kids to be strippers or anything but I do not think they should listening to songs about sex or being sexy. I'm a prude when it comes to music for my kids. They listen to kids songs I play from pandora or our local Christian radio station. Yes. I'm "one of those". They enjoy it know a lot o the songs and sing them. Ibwould mug rather then sing those than "I'm sexy and I know it". Something about hearing my girls say they are sexy at 5 is sick. Even if they are just singing a song and don't know what it means.
I don't judge others for allowing their kids to listen to it. Just would like to keep those words, and ideas out of my kids ears and minds for a few more years. I don't think it would be too cute if they were at church singing I'm sexy and I know it. Lol.
I think I'd be thinking the same thing, but with that said one of the boys' favorite songs to listen to is Take it Off by Ke$ha ...I know, I'm a horrible mother. They like the snake charmer music in it, lol.
I'm shocked people can't see why it's inappropriate for a school to play these songs for young students. You know I'm no prude and my son sang highway to hell, dressed as angus young as a three year old.there's a difference in what's appropriate for a child to hear at home vs. at school
Wow...that's bad, and for some reason I feel like the people who are all "oh well" would be throwing a great big hissy fit if it was Christian Rock music or something....no??

Me too. I guess I have a double standard bc I do let my kids listen to pop radio in the car, but I don't think it's appropriate for school. I do change songs that I think he might repeat that are inappropriate (like sexy and I know it), and it's on pretty low bc we are usually talking.
Wow...that's bad, and for some reason I feel like the people who are all "oh well" would be throwing a great big hissy fit if it was Christian Rock music or something....no??
Inappropriate.
Totally agree with this!!! The $hit would hit the fan if there was a song about Jesus played but sex and drugs and all the crap in the pop music is fine.
And for the record. I'm not against my kids listening to secular music. There are plenty o secular songs that aren't filled with foul laungage and sex.
Our school P.E. teachers play kids bop songs or something like that. I think they are cleaned up versions of top 40 songs. A few times I have walked by and questioned the music but it wasn't TOO bad.
I wanted to pick 9 upbeat songs to use for Brain Gym and had a hard time because I looked at the lyrics of everything first. I ended up finding 9 songs from the 90's.
The P.E. teachers are trying to find something with an upbeat tune and they want the kids to participate, so they are trying to be "cool." I do an eye roll at them sometimes but I know what they are trying for at least.
I screen my kids' personal music - what they have in their CD players mostly. They listen to soft rock because that's the station the xmas music was on and they kept it there and they said they liked it. Some of the songs are questionable but we haven't had any problems. I do not have a problem with what they play in P.E. class.
I wasn't nearly as influenced by radio and concerts (my mom worked at concerts so I was at pointer sisters, whitney houston, air supply, etc. as a kid a lot) as I was by movies.
p.s. I a not nesting from school - I have 2 streppy kids and a sinus infection!

all I said was my kids love those songs. I didn't say I'd be fine with them playing it in school. And since both of mine went to religious preschools, I wouldn't mind them singing or hearing a Christian song. But, since dd is in public school now, I don't see it happening.
I don't think it's appropriate for school because, obviously, it bothers people.
*I* don't find any issue with it but again, I let them listen to it at home. So it would be my concern for OTHERS that would lead me to feel it's inappropriate. And just in case you couldn't already guess, you could pump Jesus music through the sound system all day and that wouldn't bother me either. I just don't take these things so seriously.
they play the kids bop cd's in gym class and i'm ok with it (we listen to that at home too). i think it's inappropriate to play the original/radio versions in school.
Is this public school gym or is it some other place?
Gym class at her school. Catholic school even. I am not mad or worried or anything, just thinking 'wtf'.
Honestly, I think I would be mad and worried.
Inappropriate for a school, especially a Catholic school. If it were my kids' school, I'd be making a phone call. I generally don't e-mail/call, but in this case I think I would. Sexy and I know it, is completely inappropriate for school. Do I let my kids listen to it? Yes. Plus they think it's "I'm sassy and I know it", that's what they sing when it comes on. I however wouldn't put it on my almost 7 year old's ipod, though it's on mine.

I'm sexy and I know it is completely inapporopriate. That has no place in an elementary school.
As for California Girls, I don't think that is nearly as bad. Unless it was peformed live. The Beach Boys are in their 60's now....that would just be...creepy.

Meh. I like those songs too. My kids dance around to them all the time.
They do have the super cute "I'm Elmo and I know it" remake on youtube. We watch that about 30 times a day : )
OMG! That must be hilarious!
My son does this too. He said, "When I'm 60 I'll sing, I'm sixty and I know it." LOL.
It was funny the first 5 times. Maybe 10. But now, it's just too much! LOL
