Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I need Stroller advice

I have the kolcraft contour 3 stroller- that i bought from toys r us.  At the time it was the best that i could afford- it came with a bar for the car seat, and the seat rotates so you can face the baby to you or away.  I did like it- but it was a bit heavy and bulky.  Now that DD is 19 months i find she is too long for it, and I find it doesn't recline very much.  I also have a very cheap umbrella stroller which I use at the mall. But the wheels aren't so great and it lacks a sun shade.

I am a bigger walker and love to take DD for walks in the evenings- so i was considering upgrading to a more expensive stroller (like a city mini or something like that) that would be nice for walks, trips to the zoo, disney etc.  The problem is DH and I will likely have another child in a year - so should i be considering a double stroller?   What do people use when they have a newborn and a 3 year old?

Looking for any and all advice...

  • We bought the City Select for the reasons you are describing.  I wanted a stroller that I could use for 2 kids if I needed to, but that wasn't only a double stroller.  I figured it would save us money in the long run since it will be our one and only stroller.

  • My kids are 2 years 8 mos apart.  When DD#2 was born we got a Sit and Stand Stroller.  BEST THING EVER!  My 3 year old does NOT want to be in a stroller, but still sometimes needs a rest when we are on long walks like at the zoo, etc.  "The baby" can sit in the front in the stroller portion, and DS get sit on a "jump seat" or stand on the back, so he feels big.  My Sit and Stand is by Baby Trend, Joovy makes a smaller more compact version

This.  Mostly.  Well, we bought a Baby Jogger City Elite for #1 (and I LOVE it) but as we TTC #2, I was thinking forward and recently purchased a City Select with the extra seat and the glider board.  (Got a nice package deal.)  I plan on selling my City Elite, but haven't had the heart to list it just yet.  I'll then use the Select as a single until we need the double, and can then use it as a single again (or with the glider board) if/when DS no longer enjoys the stroller.

  • Thanks-  I was doing some research and it seems like the City Select, Britax B ready, and phil and ted's explorer are all good options- and all around the same price.    I should mention though that my 19 month old is already 32lbs and 32 inches...  and it seems like the City Elite and Explorer top out at 44lbs and the Britax B goes up to 55lbs.

So i am leaning towards the Britax for the extra weight capacity.  Does anyone know anything about these strollers?
