Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I just had a mediocre performance review :/

I knew it was coming.  I had a hard time getting back up and running after maternity leave, and then I interviewed for a different job within my company that fell through (they didn't fill the position at all due to changes in the company).  It left me feeling kind of disappointned and burned out.

I'm almost 32 years old and this is the first non-awesome review I've had.  And my manager is awesome and constructive and it was a productive conversation.

But it still feels kinda crappy :/.

ETA:  First review that wasn't an overall positive one.  Didn't mean to sound AW.

What you're (ostensibly) lacking at work, you're making up for by being an awesome mommy, which in the end is far more important. :)

  • Oh, boo. At least she's an awesome manager. These kids are sucking the life out of us! Anything outside the house now just isn't as important anymore.  :)

  • Awww, sorry. I'm sure you'll take the feedback and amaze them the next round!

  • oh, sorry that happened. I'm glad your manager is at least good with that sort of thing though. I completely understand being in a rut and just not putting the same energy in your job that you used to. I'm there. I think the change would be good. Hope it happens!

    PS ILY.

ILY too! And I know exactly what you mean about different priorities and rounding out your resume. Whatever you end up doing, you will excel. I know this.

  • Aw, sorry about the mediocre review and the feelings of being in a rut.  It's hard to go back to the same ol' same ol' after a while.  When I had P, I left my job & then got a new one after she was born.  Same field (dentistry) but just a different environment.  I think the change-up of a new position is a great idea!  I hope it gives you enough change and makes you happier.  It's weird how a little change can go a long way.  GL!!  ::semi-non-creepy interweb hugz::
  • I'm sorry. :(

I've felt the same way since coming back from maternity leave.

Thank you for posting this...  I could've written this myself!  I had the exact same experience last week, only difference is I don't have such high regards for my manager, which made it super-hard to not get defensive and even more upset during our conversation.  I am also going to be moving positions (lateral move), but the bright side is that my new boss seems 100x better fit.  I'm trying to focus on that, but it's been pretty rough.  Not to mention I'm already a hormonal wreck as my due date gets closer!
