Seriously... when I was pregnant with my first I never got the side eye or any comments on my weight... and I gained a total of 60 pounds! This time around I have already gotten told that I was gaining to fast (25 pounds in 30 weeks??) I didn't think that was to ridiculous... but I keep seeing post and my friends have all had comments to them by their dr's about weight gain. Have they been to lax in the past and are making up for it? wtf! Not it's like no more then 30 pounds... I am actually surprised I never got reprimanded before... it's weird. And I know back in the day it was like no more then 15 pounds lol... whats the deal!

Re: What is the deal with Drs & Weight gain these days?
I had issues with my OB last time who told me at one point to "lay off the burgers and fries" toward the end of a pregnancy where I only put on 25 pounds total (and started out at 5'9 and a muscular 140). This time my MW said the average gain in her office is 40 and they were impressed I only gained 25 last time so I knew then I wouldn't get bullied about my weight this time.

I really wish I knew.
They cannot be pleased at all. With me, first I was underweight. Now, I am "overweight." I guess the "comfortable" spectrum is quite tiny in some of their books.
They shouldn't be too worried about our bodies PP. We'll figure it out. That's a matter to discuss with a nutritionist. The furthest they should go is just to suggest that we BF after we have our babies to burn the extra calories.
that's dumb, 25 in 30 weeks if perfectly fine.
my MW has never said anything, just great job on the weight gain so far, you are doing so great with weight gain etc. I was +23lbs at my last appointment (28weeks) and she was very pleased with that as usual.
Me too. When I read the posts about doctors and weight gain, I just count my blessings for the great OBs that I have.
I know. When I asked my doc about my weight gain (I'm petite and gaining on the lower end of the spectrum) he told me he doesn't worry about weight gain in his patients as long as they're eating healthy and exercising. He's been delivering babies for over 30 years, so I assume he's seen all ranges of weights and just doesn't worry about it anymore!
Same here, I dread getting on the scale at my docs. The last time I was there she told me I had too many christmas cookies. I know she is looking out for me, but it kind of sucks at the same time.
What I hate is that not only do their scales suck....but it's always like 6 pounds more from the time I weigh myself that morning (cause I want to know for that day) and by the time I see the doc. There's a reason why you're supposed to weigh yourself the same time every time.
So last time they said I was up another 5 pounds for a total of 37 pounds. But with my morning weight, I'm only up 30. Now I'm only up from my morning weight from my last appointment time by 2 pounds from 2 weeks ago. We'll see what they say tomorrow. I'm sick of the "weight" talk every time I'm there. I eat healthy. I don't eat crap all day every day. I move my body. I get the baby is ahead and I'm still growing. Now shut up about it!
