IVF cycle cancelled -- poor response to max dose

Thanks again for all the kind words in response to my prior post (re: my cycle almost being cancelled on Sunday).  Went in for another monitoring appointment this morning and just heard from my RE.  My E2 has increased a bit, but so has my LH...apparently, my body is ready to get the show on the road.  My two lone measurable follies didn't really change much between yesterday and today, so they've decided to cancel my cycle.

RE mentioned doing the MDLF protocol next.  He's looking into whether EPP is a viable option to be combined with that (although he usually only uses it with an antagonist, as I think is the standard use).  He also recommended that I start on 75mg of DHEA...getting that on my way home this evening.

I'm certainly frustrated and sad, but more so because I'm concerned abouth whether things will actually change on a different protocol/month.  Beyond that, I was actually more miserable over the weekend, when I didn't know how things would play out and it really felt like I was stuck on a roller coaster.

Looking very forward to some wine and sushi this evening.  I won't miss doing the self-injections, even though I've gotten into a routine with them.  With my cat at the vet for a second night of observation and IV fluids/antibiotics (still waiting on some additional blood test results), I will also very much welcome a break from the added hormone insanity.

As long as I stay in fairly good spirits, I'll be sticking around here during my downtime -- I've got too many fingers and toes crossed for everyone to disappear anytime soon.  Really, really hoping to hear lots of great news from others in the coming days!!!

So sorry Joules. I know too well how hard it is to be cancelled. On our second try, we radically changed the protocol, added HGH and I had a much better response. It sucks because we all want it to work the first time. While it does for some, for the vast majority it seems like cycle 1 is a learning experience.  You'll regroup and get a new plan in place for next time. Sounds like your RE is already on top of things.

Hope your kitty improves fast. For now, wine and sushi sound like a great plan!

Oh Joules, I'm so sorry! Being cancelled really stings. I also had a dismal response to an antagonist cycle and remember the feeling of relief/grief that came with the final cancellation. But, I think there is every reason to hope a new protocol can make all the difference. It sounds like your RE is really taking the time to customize a new protocol just for you.

When my RE called to cancel the cycle, he told me to make myself a big drink that night. So, I say take out the good bottle of wine and some fabulous sushi! It's doctor approved! Sending you a GIANT hug!

I wish you didn't have to face disappointment so early on, but the bright side is it sounds like your doctors are looking into things and are working with you instead of having you go through cookie cutter treatment.

It's good you are holding onto the hope that things might be different next time, because chances are they will be.

Take time for yourself and enjoy those little luxuries, like wine and sushi!

I'm so sorry you were canceled.  It really sucks.
I had a much better response with MDLF and had 8 mature eggs retrieved.  When I had my WTF, they said they may consider doing a EPP in addition next time.  So I'm thinking that is a viable option for you.

Hugs, and enjoy your injection free evening.
