does your LO have a bewitching hour?

I feel bad - every night between 6-8pm DS gets super grumpy. I feed, change, and let him play for a few minutes then off to the swing (which he typically loves to sleep in), however since this "routine" has started he just whines and cries for that timeframe. Whats worse is that is when DH returns from work all day and wants to spend time with him. He asked me yesterday, "do you think he knows me?" He seems so disappointed that DS is cranky and thought it had something to do with him. I reassured him that this is just a tough time since he's tired.

DS woke up at 6:30 this morning and I brought him out to spend time with DH and he was happy and giggly so I think that made him feel a little better.

Anyone else have a bewitching hour (or hours)?

  • We're between 8-10 which is when she wants to sleep and fights it like no other. Every time we get her to sleep she wakes up screaming and then the cycle continues. We try putting her into her crib when she's almost asleep and we put her sea horse on and nothing works... I hope this phase ends soon

  • yes, starting around 6ish. Which is why her bedtime is between 6 and 6:30. She's a lot happier that way. Although it makes me sad going back to work I won't see her too much in the evening. =(

  • 6-8. Both my mom and DH's mom said that we were fussy around this time too.

This too. It used to be 11p-1a at around 3 weeks, so at least it's moving earlier...

  • Ha, they call it bewitching "hour".... for DD it's more like all evening.  It starts around 4-5 and goes until she finally falls asleep, usually by 8:30.  Ugh, it's so frustrating, and the only thing that makes her feel better is to nurse.  Some days are worse than others, but it makes it hard for me to get out of the house in the evenings, and it's even worse when we have company in the evening.  I'm taking her back to the bedroom every 1/2 hour to nurse in private.
