WWYD call the ob?

Last night was hell. I was super sick for 5 hours like last week. Nothing would stay down and I would get sick even with an empty stomach. I had a terrible headache too. I went to bed at 8 and slept. I managed to keep sips of juice down through the night and have not been sick in almost 12 hours. I have had some Cheerios and juice/coffee this am. Headache is 90% gone.

Should I call or just chalk it up to my hellish pregnancy? This has happened twice now in a two week period.

Thanks girls!

Re: WWYD call the ob?

  • Honestly to me it just sounds like normal pregnancy stuff. I remember right as I was getting near the 2nd tri I had the most God awful headaches that would not go away no matter what I did....and I had severe morning sickness until around 14 weeks. I did have zofran though which helped a lot. Do you have a routine visit coming up? You could always bring it up then. But if you really feel like something is just not right, absolutely call! That's what they are paid for!

ETA - I hope you feel better soon! I'm sure once you hit the 2nd tri you'll start feeling a little better. Gosh I don't miss being pregnant, lol!!!

  • I can't remember-are you on Zofran or another med?  I guess if you are still that sick and on that, I would give them a call.  If not, maybe you could get a script for that and see if it helps.

  • I am not on a script, I do take Unisom but I was trying to limit that. I have my NT scan and an OB appt next Thursday. If I don't call I will definitely bring it up then.

I don't think anything is wrong, but it is super hard to function like that! lol

Maybe it's the swing of hormones that happens when the placenta takes over, IDK but it really sucks.

I wonder what it better, Zofran or several doses of Unisom. My OB's website has you take 1 tab at night and 1/2 tab at each meal. Is Zofran 1x a day?

  • I think I was allowed to take zofran more than once a day, but I only needed it once a day. My morning sickness was by far the most horrible in the morning (right when I had to get ready for work of course!). It would start around 3am and not let up until about 11am and I'd be over the toilet the whole time. So anyways when I woke up feeling nauseous, I'd pop in a zofran then be good to go for the rest of the day. One side effect of zofran though is absolutely terrible constipation. It was so bad (for me at least) I'd only take it every few days and just be sick the other days because it just wasn't worth it.

  • Sounds like my second pregnancy....I was like that for 2 months straight. Sounds like Hormones.

I think I lived off fruit smoothies and Peanut butter.

My OB said that it was almost impossible to puke up peanut butter. I would wait and see if this is constant then yes teel your ob if this is new   give it a day or so
