TMI Warning....Since I'm a vaginal birth newbie, I have a question (yes I asked a "pro" but would like other input).....is it normal to not have control over your bowel movements? I had my first one this morning (at the hospital thankfully) and I felt the urge to go but it totally came out on its own and I couldnt stop it! Its the most embarrassing thing ever but I'm wondering if anyone else has been through this and if it goes away? The nurse talked to me about it for awhile today but like I said I'm just wondering what others have experienced!
Re: The Most embarrassing thing I'll ever ask....
m/c 1/2/08 and 3/12/08
Eve Amelia- Born 2/24/09. 6lb 9.9oz
Natalie Ruth - Born 6/13/11 7lb 6.6oz
They had me on softeners and senekot (?) which I think forces me to go (they think thats part of this issue). Basically when I felt the urge I went to the toilet, but didnt make it and there was absolutely no ability to hold it in whatsoever. It just came right out and I couldnt stop it no matter how hard I tried....forget about the pushing-not needed!
I think the senekot has a strong laxative effect? I might just stick with the softeners.
Still having trouble here and we're almost 9 months out...but I pushed for three hours and five tears, a full episiotomy and finally a vacuum extraction. Med free. I did some damage down there.
Wow you poor thing! I thought med free with forceps and an almost 3rd degree tear was bad...no more complaints here!
Girl that is bad! Not gonna lie, I'm not sure I'll ever be the same. But, the muscles recover and it gets easier.
Can't wait to hear the birth story!
