CIO while living in an apt?

We're planning on starting this weekend. J's crib shares a wall with the neighboring apt. Does anyone else worry about pissing off the neighbors? Am I over thinking this? J can get loud (screaming) when he's angry, which will be stressful enough. :(

  • I'm right there with you! We live above a great couple and I always wonder what they think Shen they hear DD crying for more than a minute or two.

  • I would be worried too.. Maybe you could go explain what you are doing? Since it will be earlier in the night, I don't think it will be a noise violation (depending on where you live) but I would personally want to warn the neighbors so they don't think I'm neglecting her or torturing her or something

  • It's kind of pathetic, but I don't even know what they look like! We live in a garden style apt w/separate entrances for every "column" of apts. I think we may have to bite the bullet and introduce ourselves by warning them. I'll make sure I bring J along so they can be distracted by his cuteness :)

  • I think a little noise pollution is part of apartment living... My nursery is right below my upstairs neighbor's bedroom, so I'm sure they've heard her crying and I have heard them doing things too (grossness). If you want to be super polite take them a bottle of wine and explain that you are sleep training. Most likely if they haven't gone through it already eventually they will and they will understand!
