Pump Came in Today

I ordered the Medela Harmony, just a basic, manual pump. I was so excited when it came in today I'm sure you can guess the FIRST thing I did. Yes, stuck it too my boob. I figured the whole thing will get washed before I intend to use it so, why not? I barely pressed the handle and it hurt. I can only imagine how it will hurt when I'm engorged and/or sore from BF. It was kinda funny to watch my nip move as I pressed the handle. Even tried it on DH. Yes, we are very mature people. Big Smile Anyone else took theirs for a test drive? lol

    According to my L&D nurse SIL, don't do that!  When she found out I did that when I was pregnant with DD (39w5d), she got mad at me because nipple stimulation with a pump  can not only bring on labor, but bring it on really strong and fast.  

    Not trying to scare you.  I obviously did the same thing whenI got mine, too. :)  Just letting you know what my SIL said.

    yes nipple stimulation releases oxytocin, which can bring on labor, but really won't until your body and baby are ready.  so, pump your tits now if you want, but truly, you will probably grow to hate the damn thing so best to delay the inevitable.

    I've gotta ask... why was she mad that you did that 2 days away from your due date? Seems strange.

    HAHAHA I am sure I would have done the same thing and it can't been anymore harmful then the coupe times I've checked to see if I could get anything out!
