Trying to Get Pregnant

Faint Line after several negatives

My last period started 12/19. I went to an urgent clinic on Wednesday for nausea and no bowel movement for 8 days. The doctor did a dip pregnancy test. It was negative. I wasn't comfortable with her opinion so I went to another doctor Friday when still no bm. Dip test was negative. They drew labwork to process over weekend. Sunday night still no bm and low grade fever so I went to ER. Dip was negative so they did a CAT Scan.  They found a ruptured ovarian cyst. They gave me a laxative and I finally had a bm. Followed up with gynocologist Tuesday and he said the cyst was barely larger than my monthly one would be. I took HPT tonight and there is faint second line.

Not sure if it is a real positive or not.

Did you at least try some OTC remedies before wasting a ton of time and money with dr's appointments and unnecessary pregnancy tests?

Oh, and not pooping and a low fever are not reasons to go to the ER. Neither of those are an emergency, which is what the ER is for.

You are pregnant. Congrats and buy some Colace. You are going to need it.

No BM for 8 days isn't reason to see a doctor? I guess it depends on a number of other circumstances (which we surely don't know) but that can actually be a serious issue. My brother, for example, has had several bowel obstructions and they can be both painful and dangerous if not treated. He's been hospitalized several times for this.

Not saying this is what happened to OP but I might also get checked out if I didn't poop for that many days.

She had seen a doctor. She went on Friday and Sunday night she freaked and ran to the ER for a low grade fever instead of waiting until Monday morning and calling the doctor for a follow up.

That ranks right up there with running to the ER for an u/s because you want to see where you are at and can't wait for the scheduled u/s you have a couple days later.

You followed that timeline better than me! I thought you were saying that the lack of pooping and nausea wasn't an issue at all. Those symptoms (in my family) would be enough to concern me. Call me paranoid about this one!

But yes, I tend to agree with you on the issue of freaking out and running to the ER. DH is an ER nurse and you'd love to hear some of his stories.

Completely unrelated (well, not completely) but I had an abdominal cat scan after being sick after eating anything for weeks.. and my doctor called me and literally said "Shayliz, you're full of sh!t." I found it hilarious.

  • Not to be an alarmist but you had a CAT SCAN and you're pregnant?  I'd be telling my doctor that.
  • 1. I had taken 4 different laxatives over the course of this.

    2. It is an ER emergency when doctor on Friday was afraid I was havin gallbladder issues. Fever is a sign of rupture. I usually run low (96) so an increase to 100 is pretty high. Had scarlet fever last year without fever.

    3. Hotty Toddy is the Ole Miss cheer. I don't drink.

     4. I had the CAT scan after 3 negative tests. I did not think I was pregnant. Took test this morning because no period still.

Gallbladder issues don't usually result in rupture unless it turns to gangrene. In which case you would have had an actual high fever. Most of the time gallbladder surgeries are not emergent. I had mine removed about a week after I found out I had stones.
