November 2011 Moms

Holy stuff!

I am sitting here in the family room, in disbelief at all the stuff we have accumulated between DD1 and DD2.  We swore we wouldn't be "those parents" that have every contraption for baby, yet here we are...  What do you have?  What do you use more than you thought and what has been a waste of money for you?

We currently have out:

-Swing (from DD1, used just for naps)

-RnP (MIL asked what DD could use for Xmas, suggested a bouncer and she bought this.  DD will nap in it, but hates it when alert.  Actually could do without but use it because it's there--and MIL doesn't believe in gift reciepts)

-Bouncer (picked up for FREE at consignment shop yesterday, couldn't help it!)

-PnP (used it all the time with DD1 for naps, diaper changes, etc so set it up again, havent used it this time around and am going to take it down)

-Fisher Price infant to toddler rocker (one of my favs with both girls, keeps them happy and I can drag it from room to room upstairs for showers, chores, etc)

--BebePod (another Xmas gift, just starting to use it.  Think we'll use it quite a bit since it also straps to chair as booster)

-Activity floor mat (usually just end up with a blanket on the floor, could live without)

-Beco carrier (so excited to buy it for myself, DD doesn't love it)

Yet to be brought out:

-Exersaucer.  Hope DD2 loves it as much as DD1.

Re: Holy stuff!

  • My living room looks like fisher price threw up all over it.  We have:

Swing (LO sleeps in it sometimes.  He doesn't really like it if hes awake.)

RnP (I just bought it off amazon a few weeks ago after hearing all you ladies talk about it.  Now LO sleeps and naps in it, his quantity of sleep has increased since he started sleeping in it - he has heartburn.)

Bouncer (Haven't used it in weeks, I need to put it in storage)

A Huge Exercise Ball (Use this several times a day.  If LO is in a full on meltdown, bouncing on the ball while holding him is the only way to calm him down.  This is also how I get him to bed at night.)

My PISA (Yeah, it's for me.  But the MFer still takes up space)

Exercise Mat (LO is playing on it right now.  Loves looking at himself in the mirror and playing with the attached rattle)

PnP (He used to sleep in this before we got the RnP.  Now it's holding folded clothes that need to be put away.)

A schit ton of baby blankets, burp rags, various rattles, etc on every.freaking.surface.  Good thing we don't have a lot of company, I can barely walk through all the stuff sitting out.

  • Loading the player...
  • DH and I are super organized people so we have spread the stuff throughout the house to make it less cluttery.

DS room - playmat (he loves it)

Living room: swing and PnP (he naps in the swing and like the vibrating and dangly things on the PnP

Our room: bassinet - sleeps in at night

Downstairs (man cave) - RnP, bouncer, stroller, high chair (DH decided that the stroller and high chair needed to be put together to make sure there are no missing/broken parts and now they just sit there)

  • I love the infant to toddler rocker because DD1 wants to be a baby and use DD2's stuff but she's big enough to break things but she can sit in the rocker without any problems.

Its going to be interesting when DD2 becomes mobile because DD1's toys are starting to get small, she's really into the Littlest Pet Shop right now.  I'm not sure how all this is going to work.

  • yes! We call it the baby explosion - pretty much every room has been taken over.

Living Room: RNP, stroller, car seat, rainforest playmat, and tons of burp cloths & blankets

Our dining room is empty (still have to buy a table) so it quickly became the "land of unused baby things". The swing and pack n play are in there - I don't want to put them away because I feel like DS will like them someday. We had the bassinet in there but I just sold it on craigslist.

We also have a FP infant to toddler rocker that mostly sits in the bathroom so DS can be entertained while I shower & also a good place to set him when he gets out of the bath & I wrap him in a towel.

The Boppy & PISA travel around the house with me, along with my laptop, kindle and cell phone.

I fear it will only get worse as DS ages....

  • We have a really small living area, so we're limited by that. I bet if we had a larger living area, we'd have more stuff. ;)

    We have:

PNP (which DS used to hate! Now, though, he's content to chill out there, watch the mobile, and play with his rattles)

swing (used Graco swing that's much smaller than the FP swings. DS is already getting tired of it.)

tummy time mat (I have to keep it out to remind me or DH to do tummy time)

    Moby wrap

Lots of picture books, cloth books, and board books

Boppy (seriously, I wish I had a Boppy for every room in the house)

lots of swaddle blankets and burp cloths

We also have an activity mat we keep in DS's bedroom, and a vibrating seat we keep in the bathroom for when I take a shower.

  • Right before Christmas we cleared out our spare room in the basement and turned it into the playroom.  The majority of all the big toys and stuffed animals live down there now.

All the other misc. baby care stuff we don't use on a regular basis and clothes storage is in the girl's bedroom under the crib and in the closet.

Living room:  DD#1's little toy corner and 3 baskets of toys, DD#2's swing, play mat and Boppy.

Kitchen: We keep the carseat on the table or DD#1 will play in it.  Bottle central on the counter.

    Our Room: Travel Lite Crib.

    Family Room: Just a bouncer

Computer room: The exersaucer has been in there since DD#1 was 9 months old.  There is no good place to store that ginormus thing!

  • I just recently cleaned, so it's not too bad, but I have out in the living room currently:

DD's pink basket of clothes/blankets that needs to be folded and put away

    Swing

    Exersaucer

    Bouncer

    Fisher-Price Tumblin' Park toy

    Activity mat

    Boppy

Various blankets & bibs + two empty bottles (ew)

    Car seat & diaper bag

...That's all I can see from where I am sitting on the couch with DD. Could be more out of my line of sight right now.

  • Yea we have a lot too....

PnP (which we have yet to use)

RnP (he only likes it when he is sleeping as well)

    Swing (MAGICAL)

Bouncer (DS can sit in it for 5 min MAX)

Play Mat (I hope he starts to be more interested soon)

    Stroller

And the exersaucer is still in it's box.

It's crazy how much one little human can use.

  • We have out:

Swing (She takes ALL her naps in it definitely could not do without.)
Bouncer (Should really be put away since she doesn't really like it and it is rarely used.)
PnP (Don't use it as often as we used to since she naps better in the swing now but we still use it.)
Activity Mat (She LOVES it so much more than a blanket because she likes to kick at the hanging toys and stare at the mobile thing.)
