This is kind of long.
It is impossible to get a sick appointment with our current pediatrician. I really like her when we do see her (especially b/c she has 3 boys so can offer personal experience as well), but we basically only see her for well checkups. I also feel like our appointments are a bit rushed.
We have started seeing another pediatrician in the practice (who is awesome) for all of LO's sick appointments. He's a younger guy who I initially didn't choose as our primary because he didn't have a ton of experience and I didn't *think* he had kids (which was a deal breaker for me). But I LOVE him. He has called me personally to check in on LO or to relay lab results, is very thorough during our appointments, and I can almost always get an appointment within an hour to see him if LO is sick.
SOOO... We've basically decided to swap over to him. Here are my 2 questions:
1.) We already have our 12 month well check with Pedi #1 scheduled for next week -- should we just keep it? I'm kind of weirded out by talking to some dude my age (ie Pedi #2) about weaning / bfeeding which was going to be a topic for the visit. But since I'm weaning anyway, after this appointment it shouldn't be an issue again...
2.) If we do keep the appointment with Pedi #1, should we tell her at the end we are switching to Pedi #2 just because we can never get an appointment with her? Do they even care about that stuff? I just don't want to offend her because I do really like her (and I see her at my grocery store and stuff). AM I COMPLETELY OVERTHINKING THIS?
Re: WWYD -- re. switching pedis in same practice?
The docs at my practice don't separate the patients. When we call they ask who we want to see. So, if it's like that then not only would they never know, they also won't care.
If they do separate the patients they also won't care if you change. If you want to see the lady again just do it and then don't mention that you are switching over to the young, hot male doc who you have a crush on.
HAHA! Got it... thanks.
You're not going to hurt anyone's feelings by making the switch official.
unfort, he's totally not hot. Well, he's not BAD, but I wouldn't venture to say HOT. Let's just say I don't bother to change out of my hoodie for him.
