TTC after 35

New on here

Hi! I am Janelle. I am new on here. I am 39 yo. My DH is 44. I have a couple questions and would love to hear what people have to share. 1) My husband recently had a vasectomy reversal. Anyone also experience this and how long did it take to get pregnant?

2) Have any of you used a more natural lube? I have read about pre seed..alot of good things, but also read about alot of miscarriages with it so it makes me nervous to use. What about olive oil? Canola oil?

Thanks for any stories or input.

Re: New on here

  • Welcome to the board.  I can't speak to the vasectomy.  On lube, please don't use olive oil or canola oil or anything else that is not marketed to be put in the vagina.  You are likely to end up with an infection.  There are "stories" about pre-seed causing miscarriages but not factual evidence.  I did tons of reasearch and could not find one reputable study that said it caused miscarriages.

Many of us use or have used pre seed.  The biggest thing to know is that a little goes a long way.  That stuff is slippier than you could imagine.

  • Welcome!  I also cannot speak on vasectomy reversals but I can recommend Pre Seed.  I have heard many good things about it and think it is definitely worth a try.  I used it for awhile about 6 months ago and just started again this cycle.  Hoping it is going to help!  Good luck with TTC!

  • Thanks for everyone's suggestions and advice! I have Pre seed just have not used it yet out of nervousness. I actually have been reading that using Mucinex or cough syrup really helps CM if you take about 5 days leading up to your ovulation time. So I am thinking about trying that as well. We will see.
  • Welcome!

I also can't help with the vasectomy reversal question.  But i've used preseed and it's true...a little goes a long way.  I'd stay away from the vegetable oils.

  • I don't have any advice for you but I wanted to say welcome and good luck.
  • 1. Wish I could help, but I know pretty much nothing about vasectomies. Hopefully someone else here will.

    2. I've actually heard that it's OK to use sunflower oil as a lube (think I saw it on Dr. Oz or something), but am not sure if it's safe for the sperm or not.
