Well, for the rest of my family this would be baby #5, but for me - this is baby #1! I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and I'm petrified that something horrible is going to happen. We live in such a rural area that I can't get an ultrasound until 15 weeks! (our ultrasounds are just not that strong up here in Alaska) So I have to live with not knowing about the heartbeat until April! I know there is nothing I can do about it either way, but I'm more scared than excited.
I'm also trying not to turn into a tub of lard during the 1st trimester! I keep telling myself "baby only needs 300 extra calories, only 300 extra, only 300!" But then I go for that third chocolate chip cookie! Son of a....!!!
Anyone else feeling nervous like this? I've told the Fam and some friends and I think that makes me even more edged!
Re: New and Scared!
Congratulations!'
I can totally understand. I had a miscarriage last month and I'm having the hardest time simply relaxing and accepting I'm pregnant. I convince myself every time I go to the bathroom that I will be bleeding and it will all be over. I'm telling our family this weekend and I'm terrified.
We'll get there and finally be more relaxed. It might be at 6 months but we will get there! Ha!

Congrats and welcome! I'm sure everything is just fine, so try not to worry! Is your doctor not seeing you until 15 weeks? Most OBs will at least see patients by 10 or 12 weeks, and by then you can hear the heartbeat on the doppler. Good Luck!

Awe, you seem to be putting a lot of pressure on yourself! It must be so hard having to wait that long for an ultra sound. I'm really new too, and mine is at the end of February and i'm finding it hard to wait to hear the heart beat and make sure everything is okay. I literally took four pregnancy tests just to make sure I wasn't just making things up. And don't be too hard on yourself about grabbing that extra cookie, your body is going through a lot of changes right now!
