Don't wake a sleeping baby, right?

Especially a sick sleeping baby? DD is going on a 4+ hour nap. I just worry about her getting to sleep tonight, but if she is sick, she probably needs it, right?

  • 4 hour nap, but she is sick....I would think she would not sleep well tonight but depends how sick she is.

Most likely by now I would be making more noise than usually to see if that would wake her up....but that is just me.

  • Let sleeping baby lie!  My Lo usually only naps for 1-1.5 hours and the past 4 days she has taken 3+ hour naps and slept from 7pm-8 am!  It has been amazing.  I have always heard for children sleep begets sleep, now I would go in a do an are you breathing check because I am paranoid, but if your DD is sick she probably needs the rest.

  • I just have an "up by 5:30" rule to make sure she sleeps at night. I say give it 30 more minutes, but if you let it go too long she may not sleep tonight.

  • Thanks guys! She is definitely breathing.. Her eyes just opened... and then they closed again. And they are open. I am sure she will be up in a few minutes. Dang, if I had known, I would have taken a nap myself! I wanted to yesterday but she only slept for 30-45 min yesterday!

  • I'm in the minority, but I'd wake her up.

In the evening I don't let DD nap longer than two hours.  She's put down at four and if she's still sleeping by six we wake her.

  • Let her sleep. She needs it.
