Gah...doppler

Sooo...I'm about 11 weeks and got my doppler a couple days ago, but haven't been able to find the heartbeat yet. I am overweight (5'4, size 14), so I knew it might be difficult to find the heartbeat, but can't help but get discouraged.

Last night I did find something, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't baby's heartbeat. I thought it might be at first, but it didn't sound like the galloping sound I've heard on the YouTube videos I've watched, and I heard the same sound on the left and right side. Anyone know if there are arteries that run along both sides of the lower abdomen?

Also, just curious if any other bigger girls have had any luck finding the HB this early??

    It is possible to pick up your heartbeat on the doppler. I used my cousins doppler with my 1st pregnancy and just got it back from her again 2 days ago to use this pregnancy. I finally found little chicken nugget's heartbeat this morning.

    At this point, you may or may not find it. I know it's hard to get discouraged but keep trying. The baby should still be low since it's still pretty small. When I posted the other day about this, one poster said she found hers down near her pubic line. I tried that this morning and found it!

    I'll be 10 weeks tomorrow and my Dr just found the HB yesterday. It was SUPER low, like almost on the pubic bone. It will be way faster then your heart beat. You have arteries running down both sides and down the middle, so you'll have to do some searching. She also let the doppler sit in the same spot for a few seconds before she'd move it to find it. Dont continuously move it around or you may miss it

    I am 11weeks 1 day and I'm a thinner girl and I have the cheap angelsound heart monitor and I only hear my arteries nothing else..... It's so annoying!!!!

    I'm in a similar sitaution.  I'm a size 14/16 and I cant hear it yet.  I tried again last night and got nothing, but I know LO is in there, I had an ultrasound at the Dr today and everything was ok.

    I was a size 14 when I got pregnant and I didn't hear the HB till 14 weeks :(

    I'm about a size 14, and I've been able to find the heartbeat since I got my Sonoline B doppler at 10w2d.  It still takes me a few minutes to locate it.  Usually I have to lie down on the bed with my legs hanging over in order to find it.  Frogger also likes to hang out behind my artery, so I have to move the probe very slowly and listen carefully to pick up the heartbeat.  Once I find it, I push a little harder on the probe in order to hear it better and get an accurate count.

    I can't find mine either.  I'm using the sonoline b.  DH is telling me not to worry and he has a good point.  The machines at the Dr's are thousands of dollars this one was $55, and we're trying to hear it so early.  I wouldn't stress about it.  I believe the instructions on mine say meant for women 12 weeks and after.
