C-sections

Med Free?

So guys.. after hearing all about how MUCH better it is to have a baby med free (cause basically that is the only RIGHT way to do it ya know) . I've decided to request that I have a med-free CS. I will just tell them if it hurts too much and hopefully I can just withstand the pain. That will prove to the world that I am a real woman! Who's with me? :)

    It's a joke.

Every time someone would post a poll on the tri boards about going med free I would always chime in with hell no, surgery is bad enough, give me the drugs!

It may be a joke, but it may be a little insensitive to women who did want a med free birth and had an unplanned c/s. We ALL do what we think is best for our babies. This was a  bit on the passive aggressive side and unnecessary in my opinion.

I wanted a vaginal birth and I had an emergency c/s. I want to have a vaginal birth, but don't have the option. I still saw the light heartedness of the post. It wasn't a jab at anyone on this board.

There is a lot that is said on here that is insensitive.

  • Um, whoa. It was 100% a joke. I am also one who WANTED a vaginal birth and would have been all for it being med-free. I also ended up with an unplanned c-section. I was referring to the fact that sometimes CS mamas (like myself, who never wished for one) get flack for how their child was brought into the world. And then.. when they have to make the decision to have a RCS get even more crap  because this time it was an actual "choice". My intent was a lighthearted post that might get a laugh or two from others in my situation. In NO way did I intend to offend or upset anyone..

  • Sure it's a joke but I don't get the whole prove you're a woman bit.  I had a c/s - an unplanned, unwanted c/s - but I don't feel like any less a woman.  I just didn't get what I wanted and I'm disappointed about that.  I wanted the med-free vagainal birth but wasn't planning on doing it in a superwoman cape!

You are quite right. I know I've said some of it too.  I just don't like bashing others to make yourself feel better and that's how this post read to me. ::shrug::

  • I wanted a natural birth mostly because I didn't want my LO to experience any medications and I went my entire pregnancy without them. I labored for 23 hours naturally before realizing he was brow presentation and that he would never come out naturally. So yes I find it a little offensive but everybody in entitled to their own opinion.
