Trying to Get Pregnant

Accupuncture Costs Poll

If you've had accupuncture (fertility related or not), how much did a session cost?

And anything you want to share about your experience.  I have an appointment tomorrow for fertility accupuncture but it's sort of pricey ($70) and I'm not sure if I would be better off shopping around.

I haven't had it myself, but one of my close friends goes regularly for anxiety issues. She said she only pays about $35 a session, but they suggest she go every week.

Good to know.  I had considered it in the past to help with my anxiety too.  Maybe I can get help for both.

  • I've seen quite a few posts here about acupuncture and I'm curious about it.  Who can give me any insight on it?  Does it work?  Why do you go?  Just wondering about it.

I've read that it can help regulate your cycles.  Mine have been all over the map since coming off birth control in July.  My OB ran CD3 bloodwork on me and did an ultrasound and everything looked normal so I am hoping that this will help.

That's pretty interesting that it can help with that

It does sound incredible but I've tried other forms of Eastern medicine and they've worked for me so I'm willing to give it a shot.

  • I did acupuncture for about 4 months for fertility reasons.  It was very relaxing, but obviously since I am still here.....has not worked for me.  So I stopped going just because I couldn't justify spending $70 per session every week when I could be spending that money on some nice shoes!!!!Big Smile

Oh bogus, I'm sorry to hear that.

  • The one and only experience I had with accupuncture was $75.  It was for a moxibustion session to help try and turn DD b/c she was breech.

Google the Community Accupuncture Network. There are tons of acupuncturists that are part of this group. You are treated, clothes on, in a community room setting. Just roll pants to above the knees and roll sleeves up above elbows. You pay between $15-35, whatever you chose.

Community Acu is a bit more crunchy granola than a place that specializes in just fertility. I am sure acupuncturists that specialize in just fertility are fantastic, but it seems like they are trying to make money off a very real health issue. They don't do anything different than someone in the CAN.

Just make sure you find someone that is a LAc at a minimum.

Thanks for the tip!  The nearest place is 50 miles from me but it is much cheaper.  I'll keep it in mind.

  • I pay $85 per session and an additional $30 every two weeks for custom herbs.

It's pricey, but worth every penny. My acupuncturist specializes in fertility and made my wacky cycle normal in just a couple of months. I have honestly been blown away by the results. In addition, she has quelled my PMS symptoms and anxiety. Oh, and I threw my back out on NYE and she fixed that too. Magic, I tell you.

(Of course, I will be thrilled when I get KU and can spend that money on a baby room instead. Ha.)

Same story here except w/o throwing out my back. Its been well worth the money and much more gentle on the body than the western meds. I think the key is finding a gyn specialist because not all acupuncturist know how to treat fertility issues.

Thanks.  The place I'm going is actually a fertility center which is probably why it's so pricey.  I'll be sure to update for all who are interested.

  • My insurance covered 10 sessions, I just paid the co-payment, I went for fertility issues and I am still not preg so I don't recommend it for that, relaxation yes, I went for the 10 sessions and after I paid out of pocket, $60/session. I went once a week on regular weeks and twice a week during ovulation week. It did help me relax but I didn't get the BFP I hoped.
