Hi, I've replied to some posts on here so I'd like to introduce myself so you're not all thinking "who the heck is this chick?", lol.
I've been on the bump for a few years now and I was first on here while TTC my 2 yr old son Adrian, who was born 8/09. It took us a year to get pregnant with him (naturally). I did the whole nine yards in terms of OPKs, Chinese herbs, BBT temps, fertility monitor, healthy living, exercise, vitamin B6, prenatal vit, natural progesterone cream, getting tested (bloodwork, HSG, sperm analysis for DH), yada, yada... but no IF treatments. I was almost going to start those when I finally got pregnant. It's funny but the month I gave up hope trying to get pg naturally was the month I conceived. Interesting how that works.
I'm hoping to have a second child but I'm not sure I'll get lucky again. The first time I was 38 and now I'm 41, going on 42 in July. I'm trying to keep an open, positive mind, but at the same time, I realize that DH and I have been super blessed with our son and that if we can't have another one, that's OK. I'm willing to try Femara or Clomid and maybe IUI but that's about it. We don't have the emotional or financial strength to go through more invasive treatments than that. Hopefully we won't need to. My cycles are super regular and I ovulate each month but I've noticed my cycles are a few days shorter now and that's a sign that my body is changing with age. My luteal phase has always been kind of crappy, lasting no more than 9-10 days. Apparently, it was enough when I got pregnant, but who knows what's going on now.
Also, and I have no idea why this is, I used to have PMS symptoms before having Adrian (sore boobs, menstrual cramps) and since giving birth, nothing. Not a single cramp or breast discomfort at all. The doctor couldn't answer why. If anyone knows, please enlighten me. If I wasn't trying to get pg, I would be A-OK with that, but it makes me wonder...
Anyway, I just wanted to wish all of you on here lots of luck and to keep trying and stay positive. Sometimes it takes a lot longer than you envisioned but I've seen a lot of women in past TTC boards get their wish.
Lots of baby dust to all of you and talk to you later ![]()
Re: Kind of "new" here
Welcome, I hope your stay here is short and sweet. The ladies are wonderful.
This could be my story. I was 37 when I got pg with my DS in 09. He was born 11/11/09. I was 38 when I delivered. We are also hoping for a second. I was pg for a time last year, but lost my lo at 11w. We were only trying for 2 mo when we got our BFP and were overjoyed because I am 40 now and I was sure it would take longer. We had to TTA for a few cycles post loss and just got the all clear late last week. Just in time for O, if my chart is right. My LP pre-loss was 13/14 days. Post loss it has been 9 and 10 days. I hope its still long enough for implantation to take place and I have no reason to believe it isn't. We are giving it til Oct of this year and if I am not KU by then, our DS will be an only child
. I really hope that isn't the case. It's a personal deadline and I may change my mind, but I doubt it. I had a very easy pg with DS, but a brutal delivery where DS broke my tailbone on the way out and over 2 yrs later it still gives me pain daily. I just can't imagine going through labour again after 42.
Once again, welcome and GL.
Welcome! You'll find a lot of support here.
About your PMS symptoms... I think it's normal for one's symptoms to change. In college, I used to get cramps so bad that it was almost impossible for me to attend classes. No, it was not just an excuse, haha! In my late 20s - early 30s, I had very little symptoms at all. Nowadays I get the whole nine yards; I feel every twinge / cramp, get headaches, break out, etc.

My Chart
My pregnancy was great and I delivered Adrian exactly on his due date. My water broke at 3am and he was born 4pm later that day! I had an epidural and I highly recommend it. I was very happy that I ended up not having to be induced, I really didn't want that and I personally believe that induction leads to more c-sections. But that's my opinion, I know in many cases, induction is medically necessary.
I guess the easy pregnancy and relatively smooth delivery make me hopeful about having a second. I know each pregnancy/labor is different but I'm feeling positive. Sorry about your difficult labor. I have a friend who tore really badly (I had an episiotomy, which was a good decision in hind sight) and she took forever to heal and had bladder/bowel problems for a while. She's going for a c/s next time she has a baby and I don't blame her!
Good luck with TTC and thanks for your story
