Because weaning is that easy. I know if someone has never nursed (especially a toddler), they really have no clue, but I am so sick of hearing this. I had to bite my tongue today when a friend said this to me.
I think going from nursing 6+ times during the day and then all night long, to nursing 3-4 times per day and maybe once at night is a HUGE improvement.
I am weaning him. Weaning =/= stop nursing cold turkey. I really wish it were that easy, because I truly do want to be done. I want to ttc and have yet to have a period. I just am so sick of people who have never nursed telling me to "just stop".

Re: "just stop nursing him". (vent)
Yeah, when people say things like that that are a) none of their business and b) uninformed, I pretty much tune them out.
Good luck!
People are uneducated on nursing. It's like when they say to "just pump a bottle" too, as if it's that easy for everyone! Good luck on the weaning though!
Also, your screen name cracked me up!
People really just don't get it.
Weaning starts with the first solid food, and it (ideally!) takes a long time. Keep on going, and you know it's worth it to both your baby and you to not go through the hell that cold turkey would be.
