Gauze vs. woven wraps

I'm taking the plunge and just preordered the new Tahoe girasol wrap in 4.6m. I've tried out my friends woven a couple times and I'm really excited to have my own. The tahoe looks beautiful.

However, I understand that it may be a couple months before the wrap gets to me. I really want to start wrapping before then but really can't afford to to pay more than $50 for something else.  I've seen the wrap-n-wear gauze wrap for about ~$35- how does the gauze compare to a woven? I'm most interested in doing a high back ruck carry- could I do it with gauze? Any other cheaper options besides gauze or better brands?

Re: Gauze vs. woven wraps

  • I have a gauze wrap and I honestly say it was a completely waste of money. If you enjoy wrapping and you like Tahoe I would purchase a woven. The gauze cause a lot of back pain. I do use it to do the dishes, but my 19lber is very heavy in it and it really hurts after only a couple minutes. I would really recommend a woven. I heard great things about Storchenwiege Leo. I never owned one, but I hear they are good brand for the price. I have a Girasol that I find sag a bit after wearing for long time. I would check out TheBabywearer.com FSOT. You can get a cheap used Didymos for the same price a Girasol too. I have a Didymos and love it to death! It is so supportive for back carries and I would recommend them to any mamas interested in wrapping.

  • I'm not a fan of gauze, I find it to be too diggy for my tastes; not comfortable.
