we are off to disney this weekend and i just had a few questions...
1) if you did california adventures & disney - which did your kid like better? we have park hoppers so we shall see!
2) are there are good amount of rides for 2 year olds? i know the 4 year old can go on a lot, but i am worried about my daughter and there not being enough for her.
3) do they still do the light parade at night?
4) any other tips or advice? we are staying at the grand californian so we get some free past passes which i am sure will come in handy!
thanks!
Re: disney ladies
Don't have kids yet but here are my opinions:
My husband and I liked Disneyland better; because CA had a lot of the carsland construction going on so we felt like you had to walk around the entire park to get to one other location. Loved the Little Mermaid ride. We didn't walk through A Bugs Life. I do remember seeing a sign for a Phineas & Herb (is that their names?) stage show, and they do have talk to Crush from Finding Nemo. And we visited this past September so I'm sure a lot has changed since then.
No light parade at night but the Soundsational parade is a good one. I think Fantasmic is on the weekends at night.
micechat.com is a message board I lurked on and got lots of tips. have fun!
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
Sara enjoys Disneyland a bit more but there are certain rides at CA that she loves like Toy Story.
There are lots of rides the 2 yo can ride especially at DL. Bugs Land is good for the little ones in CA.
No light parade but they do have World of Color in CA at night. Can't remember if they have shows in the winter at DL.

We just got back from Disneyland! We also stayed at the Grand CA, so hopefully I can help with some of your questions. And I was there with my 1 year old, and her 4 cousins who are 4 (3 of them) and 2.
1) if you did california adventures & disney - which did your kid like better? we have park hoppers so we shall see! The kids liked elements from both. Fantasyland was a big hit. My nephew LOVES Casey Jr. train in Fantasyland. Buzz lightyear is a good ride too in Disneyland. 1 and 2 year old loved Tiki room. all the kids loved Small World. In CA adventure, the woody ride is awesome, so is monsters inc and little mermaid, and they have a "bugs land" with lots of great rides for kids.
2) are there are good amount of rides for 2 year olds? i know the 4 year old can go on a lot, but i am worried about my daughter and there not being enough for her. there are actually not many restrictions on a ton of the rides. except for the roller coasters. you can take your 2 year old on most everything, they just sit on your lap. Ellie (1) didn't like some of the loud rides (she didn't like the toy story ride at CA adventure). You can even take her on Pirates (but I think Ellie would freak out). Ellie loved Small world, and anytime there was music playing/a show, she was fascinated.
3) do they still do the light parade at night? disneyland has a parade that on the weekend runs at 4 and 6:30. we missed it every night, but my sister watched it and her boys liked it. They also do fireworks at 8:40. Then, at CA adventure they have "world of color" which is AWESOME! You have to see it. You need to get a fastpass to get a spot to stand, but the show is amazing
4) any other tips or advice? we are staying at the grand californian so we get some free past passes which i am sure will come in handy! this weekend there is a marathon at the park, so make sure you check what time they open and expect some crowds.
On Friday, we used our passes to get into toon town right when it opened. Dland opened at 9am, but they open the gates before that and you can stand on main street to be that much closer to the 'stuff'. so right at 9am, we went to toon town (it opens for everyone else at 10am). We were the first ones into toon town and were greeted by pluto, mickey and minnie. it was awesome. we got to explore toon town without much crowds which meant E and her cousins got to run around. Then they had a little show at 9:30 or so which was so cute.
we went into the park saturday morning at 8am using magic morning and that was another good choice. we were able to get on a bunch of rides very quickly. We were with a big group, so we rode some of the big kid rides that get long lines (star wars and space mountain) if you don't have other adults and you would like to ride these rides, you can use 'switch pass' - just ask the attendant at the line. basically, you get a pass that allows the other adult to return and go through fast pass line instead of waiting. or, you can get in single rider line for some rides.
