Toddlers: 24 Months+

Baby won't eat ANYTHING?!

For the past almost week my baby literally eats nothing all day.  A couple strawberries at breakfast, maybe a single bite of something, and thats it!  He gets about 27 oz of milk a day, and is very low on the curve.  Dr. has him on carnation instantr breakfast, so I think he's too full off that.  No matter how much variety I offer, he refuses everything, even the favorites like pasta.  Is this just a stage?  How did you get yours to get back to eating?

  • Could it be teeth?  DD will usually lose her appetite if she is teething.  She will drink her milk like it is going out of style but won't eat.

  • 27oz of milk seems like a lot.  Have you tried cutting back the amount of milk so that he'll learn to get calories from somewhere else (foods)?

I had him on 16 oz, but pediatrician told me to add more because he was so low on the weight chart.  And thats when he WAS eating!

Looks like you just answered your own question!!!  We can't always listen to our pedi's.  I would go back to 16oz and then see what happens!

  • im dealing with the same thing and someone brought it to my attention today that i may be giving her too much milk. but this has been going on for months. pedi said she isnt concerned because she is gaining (i think she gained like a half a pound from 12 to 15 months)
  • Mine has gone through a few stages like this that would last a few weeks. He would only take a few bites of whatever I offered him, but he would still usually eat some bread if I gave it to him as a last resort. I agree to at least try to get him to eat food before offering carnation and milk and to try to not worry too much. Most toddlers go through phases like this. But obviously, if it goes on too long let your pedi know.
