Stomach flu

Has anyone had the stomach flu while pregnant?  DS just threw up a bunch so I think he might have the flu.  I am sure I will get it from him because I get everything he gets.  What would they do for me?  Would I have to be on an IV to stay hydrated?  I just want to be prepared.

    I had the stomach flu at about 22 weeks with DS. I think I threw up about six hours; and finally called my OB and told him that I couldn't keep anything down. They called in a prescription for zofran which actually stopped the vomiting... I'm not sure if they would do more if you were further along or not. It was absolutely miserable. I hope hope hope you don't get it- make sure to wash your hands and anything he touches.

    I had food poisoning around 33 weeks, I couldnt keep anything down and was throwing up and also had diarhea as well. I called my OB to let him know and he told me to go to l&d because the dehydration it can cause your body to start getting contractions, they set me up in an IV and i was there for about 24 hours till my symptoms finally subsided. I would suggest the same if you do get it and cant keep anything out, as i was set up on monitors and was getting slight contractions because of the dehydration.

    I had it just before Christmas and didn't call although I should have. It took me almost three days.to get hydrated back to a good level. I came home from work yesterday with it again. Seriously? ! I'm hoping this Gatorade stays down but if not I will be calling in a few hours.

    Uhh I hope you don't get it , I actually just got over it and it was horrible. Mine hit me around 12am so the rest of the world was sleeping and I was up until around 6am throwing up and swearing I was going to die. It is super hard on your body having to throw up so much when you have this huge baby inside you , and I thought for sure I was gonna push him out with all the throwing up I was doing. When the office finally opened DH called the doctor and he called me in Phenagran (sp?)  well the 1st one I took was a waste because It came right back up but I finally held the 2nd one down and it helped me sleep and I slept pretty much all day , I was still a little sluggish for about 2 days after but I didn't have to go to the hospital to get IV's or fluids or anything . Goodluck!

    I had the stomach flu between Christmas and New Years! It was terrible!  I never called the Dr....but I did drink Hot Water w/ Lemon like it was my job to stay hydrated!  They say it's easier to keep down warm fluids! Good luck..hope you don't catch it!!

    I just finished the stomach flu, lucky for me it was only 24 hour. My doctor said that really there isn't much harm to the baby unless I become dehydrated. It was hard to drink fluids and just throw them back up (sorry for TMI) but it is necessary. My husband was able to stay home and care for me which was great. I say stock up on Gatorade, ginger ale and Popsicles. I had a low fever which concerned my doctor more than the flu part but he said that as long as it doesn't last several days I should be fine.

    Hope you don't get it!

    Thank you for all the replies, I have not gotten it yet so I am hoping I don't!  DS started his at 8pm the night before last so I thought I would start last night at 8pm but it didn't.  I have my appt today so I am going to ask her what to do if I get it.  I pretty much bathed in hand sanitizer while taking care of him so hopefully that helped.  He was so cute laying in bed with me telling me I was the nicest mommy in the world, then he would kiss me on the lips and I didn't have the heart to turn my cheek!  When kids are sick they are like little babies again, I held him all night and as much as I felt sooo bad for him that he was sick I kind of enjoyed having him be my baby again for a night  :)
