In the words of Annie, yesterday was plain awful!
First of all, LO woke up at 2:30AM with a 102.5 fever. I was up with her till 4:30AM when she finally fell asleep in bed with me for a couple of hours. I then spent the whole day with her glued to me - literally, I was holding her for all but 10 minutes of the day. I am not complaining at all, I am glad I WAH and could be there with her - but it did get stressful towards the end of the day when I had some urgent work emails & could not answer them without her crying hysterically.
By the time DH got home at 6:45PM, I was at the end of my rope and really needed a break. I was so excited to get to Zumba class and on the way there, I was turning left at a green arrow and a lady ran a red light, swerved into my lane, and I couldn't stop in time and smashed into her.
We stopped in the middle of the street and got out of our cars and she asked if there was any damage, I said "I'm sure there is." and we both saw my car was busted up. There was oncoming traffic, so I suggested we move the cars to the side of the road (there was a parking lot right there), and as I did she drove away!
My sister was with me and both of us didn't even think to get her license plate number since she had stopped and gotten out of the car. We gave a full report to the police and later that night he thought he may have found her, but she denied being in an accident so I have to pick her out of a photo lineup later this week. (He called me to identify her right then, but my phone didn't have service at the time).
I hope I can actually identify her because it all happened so fast & I don't have the best memory. My sister was with me though & she got a better look so we'll see.
And after all that, I didn't even get to Zumba!

Re: Car accident last night
How horrible! I hope you're okay and not hurt, that's the most important thing. But accidents are sure a pain in the a$$.
What a douche for leaving the scene, I would be fuming!

WOW, so glad you guys are ok - so sorry for the hard day, sick LO's are difficult towards the end of the day when you just want like 5 seconds of peace to yourself.
That lady is in sooooooooooooooo much trouble! Was there any cameras up at that light to catch her running the red?

OMG!!! I hope you are OK! Do you have to buy a new carseat now?
I'd like to say I can't believe someone would do that... but these days, it doesn't really surprise me. I hope she gets charged with a hit and run and some other things... and that she pays for you to get a brand new shiny car!!!
First - I'm glad you're okay.
And now - oh my god I can't believe she drove off! I wish the worst karma on her!

Oh man! How scary, and what a gem of that lady to drive off... Ugh. People suck sometimes.
So glad you're ok, and hoping baby girl is feeling better today!
What an awful today! I hope today is better for you!
Since there was a parking lot near by, do you think any of the surrounding stores may have a camera that reached that far to see her car if the red light didn't have a camera? I hope y'all can identify her because that jerk deserves to pay! DH works in insurance and he told me the other day that hit and runs have gone up so much lately because a lot of people don't carry the right car insurance to fully pay if something happens.
I'm really sorry this happened on the way TO Zumba.
I mean, I'm very sorry about everything in your day -- LO being sick, work e-mails, the accident, it being a hit-and-run....
But it sucks that you also missed Zumba.
Thanks for the comments everyone! LO is super clingy today again so I haven't been able to bump much.
One really funny part of the ordeal was when my sister called 911 and tried to describe the woman - she said, "She's Latina" and the guy said "What color skin?" and my sister said, "You know, Latina, like Mexican" and the guy said "I don't know what color a Mexican is, Ma'm"...
I mean, really? Umm, light brown? I thought "Latina" was a good enough description!
My guess is that she's an illegal immigrant, honestly & that's probably why she ran. (that is also what the cop said - I am hoping the right picture even comes up when he runs her drivers license number).
chrisncass - No, there weren't cameras unfortunately!
Mommysaurus - I don't think I do, but that's a good point, I will look that up.
JoJomama - I am feeling fine, thanks! My neck was sore last night, but I think it was just stress.
Strunella - Yeah, the lady that the policeman found had a huge dent right where I said it would be. She claims it was from an earlier accident.
Emo-mamma - LO's fever is gone, but the clingy / crankiness is still here! She'll be fever free over 24 hours tomorrow, so back to DCP & I'll be able to get some work done and she'll be less bored I think.
jarebears - I don't think there would be a camera, but I may check with the Papa John's because it was right in front.
Bosha - that's a good idea about the paint, I can look into that.
Kat81again - I know, right?! Zumba was going to be my outlet for stress! I was so bummed!
Thanks again everyone!
OMG, I hope you two are alright!
And that lady... what a biotch.
Hi Mands!
Yes, my sister and I are totally fine. A little POd, but nothing medical.
The line up is going to be Friday because the police officer is off until then. He was hoping to do it last night, but because she didn't have any prior offenses, she wasn't in the "easy to access" photo database and he has to wait until he works on Friday to use a detective's computer.
I am honestly betting her driver's license was a fraud & that it won't pull up the right picture or something, but it's worth a shot. There wasn't a red light camera at the intersection, I wish there was!
First thing I did was have my sister call 911, but neither of us even looked at the plates - you just don't always think of everything when you're in the moment!
But you'll never get to gold if you're efficient like that.

I'm sorry but I'm glad you're ok. Hopefully they'll catch her.
Here something else important to know - if you had a carseat or carseat/base in the car it has to go in the trash and can't be used again, even if the seat was empty at the time of the crash. Accidents can cause microscopic cracks in the plastic that you can't see and can weaken the seat. An accident also voids the warranty on the seat.
If they catch her, hopefully she has insurance and can cover it. if not, your insurance should cover replacing your seat. I had to trash my infant seat after being hit this summer.
Wow. I cannot believe someone would do that! I really hope you find this woman.
I'm so glad you guys are okay!!
