Why doesn't she get it????

So my boyfriend's mom found a travel system on sale and has been badgering us all day to look at it so she can buy it for us. So I finally look it up and they only have 1 color/pattern on sale and it is pink/green floral and it is adorable, for a girl! I am having a boy!!! So I emailed her and I think I was very polite, I said thank you and it was a great deal but I'd prefer to not have anything pink for him.

She then calls my boyfriend crying telling him that I don't appreciate her help and that it was very rude for me to turn down a gift. I forwarded him the email I sent her to show him I wasn't being rude and I told him it was pink. He understands and is on my side but now she thinks I am rude and ungrateful. I really apprciate her offering to buy us a travel system but I am registered for one and I did alot of research and we know what we want and it's not pink!

Am I being completely rude or is she just being ridiculous?

    Sounds like she is being WAY sensitive. Is she normally like that or is this new?

    ETA: My dad got us an all blue Chicco travel system (Not what we registered for, but it turned out to be waaay nicer). He said we could return it if we want. But we looked up what he bought and checked it all out. It's a really good one from everything I found and the reviews. We decided not to care if it's all blue. Buuuuuuuut I do think blue for a girl is better than pink for a boy.

    Super fun. Well good luck with her. She will learn over time that she is not in charge. But it sounds like she may push those boundaries several times then.

    Can you just let her buy the thing and then return it and use that $$ toward the one you want?

    well she sounds fun!  usually i am a suck it up and smile when it comes to gifts kind of girl BUT you are allowed to turn down this gift, first of all it is something you are going to use every day ... not just a little onesie or something, second of all it is pink with flowers. Now mind you our travel system is blue but I think blue for a girl is totally different then pink and flowers for a boy.  she is out of line, I am glad to hear your BF sees this the same way as you do!!

    she is crazy....sounds like my MIL...they should get together! LOL She had given DS something...an outfit or some sort...it was not pink but it had lacey/ruffly trim and CLEARLY for a girl! Even DH was annoyed that she insisted he wear it anyway.  lol (I donated it!)
