3 yr old sleep problem

Maya is going through a very unfortunate phase right now. She refuses to sleep in her bed all night. I can usually get her to go to sleep initially but once she wakes up she screams incessantly to come to our bed. Last night we were up from 2-5 until I caved and put her in bed with me. She is "scared of something". We have a nightlight in her room. That helped for 2 nights but she would still wake up for her sound machine to be turned back on.

DH and I are at our wits end. We do not sleep well with her in the bed. I really think that she isn't truly scared and she is just playing us. Anyone have any tips or experiences? I'm up for anything at this point.

Can you try spraying her room w/ monster spray before bedtime? Or a special safety blanket, etc. Just get creative.

DD was terrified of the smoke detector so she would sleep with her blankie over her head. It would never occur to her that coming into our bed is an option because we've never done it. I couldn't sleep with her in the same room when she was 2 weeks old, and I don't imagine I'd do much better with her in my bed! Don't allow it to be an option. Tell her it's against the rules. DD has asked for Daddy to sleep in her bed with her, and I told her that when Daddy and Mommy got married we promised to sleep in the same bed, just the two of us, and it's a very important rule about being married.

Can you leave her sound machine on ALL night? Between that and my DD glowy lady bug that shines moons and stars all over her room, she got over the middle of the night wake ups.

DH let her sleep in our bed all weekend (I work nights and had no clue that it was going on). DD and I have talked about it today and she says she is ready to sleep in her bed all night now that we've rearranged her furniture to her liking.

Her sound machine turns off after 30 minutes for some reason. I'm going to put the iPod in there tonight on a white noise app. We'll see if it makes any difference. Thanks

Good luck with that. I have been having the same problem with my almost 4 yr old and haven't figured out a solution. She wakes up on average 2 times a night. She comes up to our room saying that she had a bad dream and I have to walk her back down, tuck her in a stay a few minutes. We have tried monster spray, she has a sound machine on all night, she has a night light on, we leave her door open like she wants, we have closed it, we leave lights on in the kitchen and bathroom, nothing has worked for months now. I am at my wits end and it feels like there is no end in sight. She tells us that she needs her little sister sleeping in her room but we did/don't have any plans on moving my youngest in there until she goes into a big girl bed....Good luck!
