  I don't think it is weird to have 3.  My nephew had 3 godparents: one Catholic sponser/godparent and 2 non-catholic godparents.

  I googled "cotton baptism gowns" and found one years ago for DS#1.  I prefer cotton because it can be easily washed if LO spits up or has a diaper leak.

  I don't think it's weird at all to have 3 godparents.  If you're Catholic, at least 1 has to be Catholic, but then you can have as many as you want.

  I plan on using a family heirloom gown for DD, and having her wear a white onesie underneath.

  Thanks ladies. I have 3 siblings (who are all married) and DH doesn't have any. We were thinking about asking my siblings instead of asking one sibling and their spouse.

  I will check out the recommendations for the outfits too!

  i have 5 sets of GP's!!! lol check out Sears!!!! they have sooooooooooooo many nice ones. BRU is not a good place to look.

  When we met with our priest he gave us a booklet with some parents FAQ. It's given to all parents within our archdiocese. This is what it says about who can be godparents and the number of godparents.

  "Who can be godparents?

  Godparents take on two roles: that of support for the parents in the Christian upbringing of their child, and that of representing the Christian community into which the child is being initiated. Godparents must be practising Catholics (fully imitated through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) who are mature enough (usually 16 years of age) to undertake this role. [Code of Canon Law, Canon 872].
  

  "How many godparents may we have?

  One godparent is sufficient but there may be two. When parents choose to have two godparents, one must be male and one femaile. It is not permissble to have two godmothers or two godfathers. [Code of Canon Law, Canon 873]"

  I would check with my priest if I was you.  It may be as easy as having official and unofficial godparents. 
  

  This is, of course, if you are Catholic. If you aren't, this may not apply.

  And all that goes out the window for me; I'm a Lutheran and we don't follow the Canon Law for the most part. Godparents can be whoever we wish, and however many we wish. FI is a non-practising Catholic, but we're raising Logan Lutheran.
