  • Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night?

The whole night - we have a Summer Infant Rest Assured Sleeper so he sleeps the night away between us:  https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3977276

Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness?

We definitely did NOT plan on bedsharing... it just sort of ended up happening when LO wouldn't sleep anywhere other than in our arms or right next to us. We have a co-sleeper and a pack-n-play... lil man wasn't having either.

Do you breastfeed or formula feed?

    Breastfeed

How often does LO wake up?

Now (just over 2-months) he *usually* sleeps for a good 6 hours, followed by a couple 2-hour stretches

Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning?

Depends on whether he goes #2 or has a overly wet toosh. Usually we end up changing him right after his 6-hour stretch (usually right before I nurse him)

What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space?

We're in no huge rush. We're loosely planning on trying out (again) the co-sleeper or the pack-n-play when he is around 4 to 6 months. While I just LOVE his nursery, I'm in no big rush to get him out of our room. I have a slight hearing problem (I was born with it) though so I'm a little worried that I won't be able to hear him well enough via the monitor (enough to wake me up).

  • Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night? Sometime the whole night. Sometimes if we wake up we will move her to the crib in the middle of the night.

Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness? We did not plan on it. It just happened because although DD was always a good sleeper getting her to sleep was always the hardest part, now she goes right to sleep.

Do you breastfeed or formula feed? Formula.

How often does LO wake up? She STTN 98% of the time.

Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning? On the rare occasion she wakes up during the night we change her.

What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space? 4+ months, when she is old enough to CIO.

  • If you currently bedshare:

Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night? Part of the night, we used to the whole night until saturday night

Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness? While I was pregnant I actually insisted that I wouldn't. He sleeps there for his comfort, and also because of his neediness

Do you breastfeed or formula feed? BF

How often does LO wake up? Usually he sleeps from 8-2 and 3-7ish, but it can vary.

Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning? overnight

What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space?i'm taking baby steps. he sleeps the 8-2 stretch in his RnP and this is a new development.

  • Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night? Part, usually just for a few hours after the last feeding

Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness? I didn't exactly plan it, but we did the same for my last DS so just figured it'd probably work out the same this time around

Do you breastfeed or formula feed? BF

How often does LO wake up? 1-2 times, give or take

Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning? wait till morning, unless its dirty

What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space? Once he is in crib (in a few more weeks) will probably just bring him in bed if he's having a bad night. My older son probably came in bed with us once every other week or so. When we stopped nursing at 12 months it was much less than that, and now very rarely. Hope to do the same this time.

  • We bedshare sometimes, it really depends on the night. DS has a RnP in our room and most of the time he sleeps in there. But, when I nurse him at night sometimes its easier just to let him sleep with us.  Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night?** Both, it just depends on the night.  Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness?**Ended up there. At first DS had a  Do you breastfeed or formula feed?**BF How often does LO wake up?** Every 2.5 or 3 hours and usually we get one good 4 hour stretch. Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning?**Change them, especially if poopy What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space? **When the time is right we will work on getting him to sleep in his crib in his room. I'm going to start putting him in his crib for day time naps hoping that helps when we do transition.

  • Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night?

Part-he usually goes between 4-6 hours in his bassinet and then he's in the bed with us.

Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness?

Convenience-its so easy to BF and he goes right back to sleep!

Do you breastfeed or formula feed?

    BF

How often does LO wake up?

After the first longer stretch, maybe once or twice?

Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning?

Once after the longer stretch and then we wait until morning.

What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space?

When I feel comfortable having him out of the room-I'm not there yet although I'm sure DH would love for me to be!

    If you currently bedshare:

Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night? The Whole night

Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness?  I wasn't opposed to bedshare, but we didn't start out that way.  We have a bassinet next to our bed, but when LO would sleep in there he would wake up every 1/2 hour or so.  When we moved him into our bed he would sleep 2 hrs at a time.  Now he's sleeping 6-7 hours at a time.

Do you breastfeed or formula feed?  breastfeed

How often does LO wake up?  We go to bed around 11pm and he wakes up at 5am and then we go back to bed around 6 and we're up at 9

Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning?  Depends on the diaper.

What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space? I'm going to try and have DS sleep in the bassinet and nap there too.  See how he does with that, and then start moving his naps to his cribs.

    If you currently bedshare:

Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night?

Started as part of the night but it's turning into all night.

Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness?

I planned to co-sleep with the RnP or co-sleeper (which does not attach to our bed) but we ended up bed sharing because both LO and I sleep better and because quite frankly, it's f*#%#! awesome.  I absolutely love it.

Do you breastfeed or formula feed?

    EBF.

How often does LO wake up?

He does one big stretch - usually 10-ish until 3 or 4. And then once or twice more, wakes fully around 7 or 8 before his morning nap.

Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning?

We wait til morning. He is actually only peeing these days and doing it a lot less during the night.

What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space?

We're going to wing it and do what feels right!  Its going to be just as hard on him as it is on me because I just love being so close to him. I know this sounds hokey, but I feel like we connect psychically when we sleep next to each other.

Oh and I should add, my husband is sleeping in the guest room :)

  • Thanks for all the responses! It sounds like a lot of people are in similar situations. I just realized I never added my own.

    If you currently bedshare:

Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night? Whole night

Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness? LO's neediness & convenience

Do you breastfeed or formula feed? EBF

How often does LO wake up? We go to bed between 10&11, wake up between 3 &5, and then again around 7. Sometimes we get up at 7 and sometimes we sleep til 9

Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning? Wait til morning usually. Sometimes he poops at the 5am feeding and then I change him

What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space? This is what I am struggling with. I go back to work and feel like I would like to have him sleeping on his own but I don't think either of us are ready (he wakes up almost immediately after being put down on his own and even if he didn't I know I would be restless with him in the next room).

And my DH has started sleeping on the couch, which I hate. But he snores loud and with just DH and I its tolerable but when the snoring is waking both DS and I up I can't handle it.

  • Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night? The whole night

Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness? We did not plan on bedsharing but DD was waking up every 1-2 hrs so it was just more convenient.

Do you breastfeed or formula feed? Breast feed

How often does LO wake up? Right now it's about every 3 hrs, although last night she was up about every hr from 2-7! Ugh!

Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning? We change her twice at night cause she usually poop around 2 and then again around 5.

What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space? We've been trying to put her in her crib but she usually only last for about 30 min before she starts fussing. We're going to keep trying though. We're hoping to really make the transition around 3-4 months.

  • If you currently bedshare:

Do you bedshare for the whole night or part of the night?

Either the first half or second half of the night. We want her in the PnP to sleep as long as possible.

Did you plan to bedshare or end up there d/t convenience or LO's neediness?

Convenience! She sleeps so well in bed with me.

Do you breastfeed or formula feed?

    FF.

How often does LO wake up?

We try to put her down in the PnP next to me first, and if it's a good night  she'll sleep in there for 5-7 hours, then after SO gets up in the morning and feeds her (between 6-8am on a good morning, like I said), he'll put her into bed with me.

Or, like last night, she ate at 8:30pm and slept in the PnP until waking up fussy at 11pm. She wasn't hungry, just wet and wanted to cuddle, so I changed her and brought her into bed. She slept next to me until 2am when she woke up to eat 4oz, then slept again until 7:30am.

Do you change diapers overnight or wait til morning?

If she wakes up during the night and is wet, then I change her.

What is your goal for transitioning LO to their own sleep space?

I want to keep her in our bedroom until at least 6 mos. Then we'll transition to the crib in her room.
