And it was a girl! I have no idea if it is accurate or not!

It was actually bicarbonate of soda, which I believe is the exact same thing. Has anyone else gone this? I was bored and thought 'why not'. I believe it was a post a few days ago that gave me the idea.

Have you heard of the needle test? It's supposed to tell you how many kids you're going to have and if they'll be boy or girl. According to that I'm having Girl, Boy, Girl, Boy. This is #1 so according to that it should be a girl.

Yes, a spoonful of baking soda in a cup and then you pee into it. If there is fizz, you have a boy. If you have no fizz, girl.

Apparently, not. I didn't have any fizz. I had one small bubble, the power just evaporation.

I believe it's where you tie a string to a needle and hold it above your wrist (I think you have someone else do it to you?) and however many times it turns.. that's how many kids you'll have. And which direction it turns determines the sex.

Or something like that!

"Well I decided to read up on some stuff about baking soda, If you have had a high acid diet during that day it will make the baking soda and urine fizzle (I haven't had any acidic foods today) so maybe there is some logic to the mom being pregnant with a boy the more acidic her urine is and if a girl less. Supposedly your urine is more acidic if you're carrying a boy, (hence the sizzling action) and more alkaline if you're carrying a girl."

I found this on another pregnancy forum while I was snooping for the lowdown on this test! Seems like it could be accurate though. I'm really feeling like it's a girl.. so I'll be interested in seeing the results!

Unfortunately I don't have baking soda at work Maybe I'll post my results tomorrow though!

So I stole some baking soda out of the work fridge and tried it. It fizzled a lot, but WARNING...if you have m/s at all DON'T TRY THIS! When you pour out your pee it looks just like first morning vomit and will make you puke!

So the box says "Change every 30 days" but does not have an expiration date on it. So I'm calling this experiment "inconclusive" for now.

You hold a piece of string/thread that's about 8" long with a needle on the end of it. You hold it in your right hand, turn your left hand palm side up, and it starts moving. The way it moves supposedly predicts how many kids you'll have, and in what order.

For example, when I did it the needle moved in a circle (girl), and then stopped. Moved back and forth in a line (boy), and then stopped. Then a circle again, then a line. So I'm having (according to this), a girl, boy, girl, boy.

It's all in good fun. However, I have a friend that has 5 kids and the needle test predicted each one of them. She did it right before her 5th. So you can do it if you've had kids already or not.

Needle and baking soda pee. Both came back girl!! My mom has always done the needle test and it was right for all of us, and her friend's kids.

I don't know if this has been pointed out or not.. but if your baking soda is bad, nothing will make it fizz... If you're wondering if its good/bad you can check its quality with a bit of white vinegar.

Same thing.. baking soda in cup, a bit of vinegar over it... if it fizzes, its still good. And yes.. baking soda can go bad. LOL
