those with constant yeast Infections

I get yeast infections a LOT- pre pregnancy.  I never go to the dr as now you can buy over the counter medication, however do you go see your dr to confirm now that you are pregnant- I never had this with my previous pregnancies.. just a new thing within past few years.  and I think I have another one and its so painful/uncomfortable.  My next dr appointment isn't until Feb 8th

Re: those with constant yeast Infections

  • I had a yeast infection with my first, at my first appointment.  I was told just to take monistat.

  • You should go to make sure thats what it is. A lot of times during pregnancy yeast infections are harder to control. I would go check to be on the safe side. I was told when I had one early on to use Monistat 7( this is the only Monistat you can use) but it made me cramp so I only used it twice then stopped. I started eating yogurt and drinking cranberry juice (the natural one) daily. And my yeast infection went away on its own. If you get them so often I would suggest eating lots of yogurt and staying nice and dry down under, wear and change panty liners often and sleep without underwear at night. But yes call your OB to confirm...

  • I would go and have them test you, because it could be something else.  I had bacterial vaginosis (if that TMI sorry), but it felt and looked like a yeast infection.  They gave me antibiotics to treat it and that actually DID cause a yeast infection (damn antibiotics).  They told me to take the over the counter Monistat for that, but only the kind that you administer for 7 days, because the 3 and 1 day treatments don't work as well when you're pg.
