Whatever news was on last night in the background of whatever I was doing and they were talking about how the cruise line has an automated system calling surviors of the crash and the message was something close to:
Are you ok? If you need therapy call xxx.xxx.xxxx. And if you need a getaway, we've got you coverd at 30% off your next trip!!
Re: How would you feel about 30% off (and a 'heartfelt' phone call)
Unable to even.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.
they should've had this sign on the ship....
The automated part would make me mad. I heard they did refund their cruise price and paid for their trip home. I would think a FREE cruise would be in the works though.
I *think* they each got a lump some of money (around $160,000), but I'm not positive. Not that that makes it any better. I don't think offering a discount on another cruise is the right thing to do either. I'm sure some of the people will never take a cruise again, while there are others that will (at some point). A free cruise would be better (but still weird). The whole situation is just crazy.
As far as the automated calls go, that is just horrible. They can't have a real person make these calls??
For realz yo, real peeps on the call, real freebie on the next non-cruise vacay.

I did not hear anything about $160k... I assumed they paid for them to get home (damn well better) and also assumed they refunded for that trip (again, damn well better) but yeah, and automated message calling is just sad. And to offer someone an other cruise, what a week after this happened. it's just insensitive.
I just checked and apparently the $160,000 is what lawyers will be asking for each victim to be compensated.

My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion was playing as the ship was sinking.... Awful.
ETA: AND they have to use the 30% off with in 18 months of booking the original cruise?!
They get free counseling and massages for life. Vacation they get 30% off if used very soon. Then they are on their own.
IF they get the $160k each, I'd say that's a much better step in the right direction.
As for the people who didn't survive and their loved ones... Not sure what they could do to ease that pain.
automated it ridiculous. They did refund them, which I think they would not have a choice. They did pay for them to get home. Again I would think they would be sued for that money anyway.
30% are you freaking kidding me. I would never step foot on a cruise line again and they should be giving them at the very least 75% off however in my opinion it should be free.
I hope the families of the deceased are not getting this automated phone call.
I did not even think of that... Goodness, I hope not!
LOL
